This guy will shine under a proper manager. Wasted talent unter the aussie clown.

He was dogshit under Conte for a whole season, and at Juve for longer. Now under - who is giving him freedom and various remits.

He’s slow, erratic. Inconsistent, doesn’t track back properly, can’t tackle without fouling, gives the ball away more than anyone in the PL.

He’s a poor fit for any aggressive, dynamic system.

It was more than that plenty of times during the last 2.5 months, Go check the schedule with cups as well.

Nope. Not happened once... Not even at xmas. There's even a suprising amount of 1 game weeks in there (considering we were in every round of 3 all 3 cups so far):

Genuinely playing 3 games per week (i.e. 2 midweek games + 1 at the weekend) is a rare anomaly usually resulting from severe fixture backlogs caused by cancelled games..... The rest of the time it's just a BS line that managers pull out of their arse when making excuses.

Deki has been absolutely run into the ground.

We’d be idiotic to make judgements based on the current situation.

I think you see a much more influential player when rested and used in the middle under a decent tactical manager.

Still pretty much a game every 3-4 days

For some reason...as good as he has been this season.... I just can't trust the ginger...don't know why. Just a gut feeling.

I mean, he's been alright. Patchy as always.

I will happily revise my previous position and say I went too far in one direction on this guy, he's a decent player and does have good attributes. His left footed crosses can be absolute pearls, if he does get time/space he can curl it in to the corner and his tenacity and strength has been great at times.

But he's inconsistent. He goes on runs where the fans declare him brilliant and then will be borderline a liability for extended periods. He loses the ball far too much and doesn't produce enough to make up for it. He slows down attacks. In any strong team the guy is a rotation option who offers a bit of a unique skill-set. The idea he should ever be a 'flagship' player in any top 6 side is mental.

Agree with all of that except the last sentence.

He’s not a franchise player for a contender right now but he’s 23. By the time he peaks at 25/26 there’s every chance he’s ironed those issues out of his game and then we are talking about a beast of a player.

In fairness I was referring to him as is now. You can't really accurately predict the future in terms of player development.

I think he has limitations to his game which will hold him back from ever being that player but I've been wrong before and will be wrong again.

There appears to be 3 games in a week in September on your list, Sun/wed/sat. Then constant loads of 3 games in 8 days which is not far off.

He's a pretty slow player at the best of times. Clear he's fucking knackered and that leads to him having all the manoeuvrability of a fucking aircraft carrier.
I ain't buying the whole knackered thing with him

What we've seen from this season has been consistent with what we've seen from him every season since he's been with us

Patches of very good form followed by months of poor performances

This has felt like groundhog day to me

There are far worse problems than him in this squad , he's a decent player at times , but he's been massively over hyped by our bone headed fanbase

I was seeing people call him our debruyne just a few months ago

Insane

Again..... Meh.... Semantics.

The pattern of 1 x weekend + 1 x week night has not been broken.

The genuine notion of 3 games per week is dependent on 2 midweek games (i.e tues & thur).
