Player Dejan Kulusevski

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

In the league he’s played 400 minutes more than Son (who’s hardly in form) and 600 minutes more than Maddison and still has less goal/assists than them.

He’s even got less g/a per minute than Johnson and Solanke.

Why would that be a surprise? Those are very end product focused player (Maddison being a big set piece taker) vs a player who picks it up from deep and does a lot of good facilitating work.

I don't particularly rate kulu (again, hugely flawed) but comparing his g/a record to a Johnson is madness. One practically goalhangs for fuck sake.

Wherever Kulusevski plays (and most of his minutes have been as an inverted forward, he does very little transitional stuff in deep/middle areas, and fuckloads less than Maddison who’s played every minute as a midfielder.

Too many players hung out to dry and expected to work miracles in a congested space. Kulu could be really Good but gets no coaching as far as I can see, apart from try harder. With Conte he was just allowed to roam around the RW but not really fast enough to play counter-attacking. Another of the Spurs-very-good-but-not-great players, I suspect - but never say never!

Maybe next season…

Erm .. bullshit, except its fact. Maddison takes our set pieces and is better at final third stuff than Kulusevski. He's also a complete fucking lightweight who you will often not even notice existing in games if he isn't scoring or assisting. Kulusevski loses the ball too much but he will drive it forward and be noticeable.

Maddison for me is the better player but you're judging two very different players stylistically on production only, which is only one part of the role they play.

Well, considering the topic being discussed in this instance was goals and assists, it’s kind normal to be discussing erm goals and assists.

And I’m judging a player who’s remit is far more involved in midfield transition (Maddison) against one who’s remit is far more final third focused (Kulusevski) as well as others.

None of the players are receiving good coaching right now. This is an absolute shambles.
