I do wonder how much it will affect us once he goes , would we try to keep him on at some level to try to keep that market profitable? His fans are like Messi fans , they support whoever he plays for , there’s no loyalty to a club .

How many Korean fans do you know? I know a few in the US and they are big spurs fans and will not be going anywhere when he leaves.

The stuff about all the profits going in Levy’s pocket and is just idiotic nonsense. Levy’s big payday is when they sell up, until then he earns less that our best players per year
Ha ha!!!!...WTF
He earns a higher wage from the club than all of his peers across England and Europe while his team sit 14th in their domestic league and hasn't won a damn thing for seventeen years.

So we’ll keep around 7 then , yippee

My mate married a Korean & the majority are Son fans not Tottenham fans & would like to see him play , some actually travel to London & their list includes seeing Son

A similar thing is happening in Hungary , but less fanatical , lots of new Liverpool fans

You know the influx will die down when he leaves / retires , you’ll get the odd one or two who will stay on but the vast majority don’t really care about Spurs

Mate, you have not responded to a single point that I have made -

But you know what - because I am true to who I am, I'll respond to you and maybe you'll do me the gracious thing of stepping out of your trench for a moment to engage with me.

Nuance exists and more than one thing can be true.

Yes, we have been mismanaged...... but it is also true that getting into the CL has become much, much harder in the last 4 years - Look at who has missed out from the classic top 4/5/6 in the last few years.

We are 'miles' off for the first time how long - we were 1 win away from it last season.

The thing is - you say their mismanagement saw us drop out, but then whose management made us regulars for how many years?

I just do not buy the conspiracies, the hyperbole. They have mismanaged us, I want new owners, but I'm not just going to nod and agree to things that, if looked at objectively and with nuance, can have other reasons attributed to it.

You can't be objective - and that's ok, you don't have to be.
Yes they got us there and it was probably because of three people . Modric , Bale and Poch . However I will not be ungracious and give Levy no credit , he signed the the first 2 and hired the latter . We have then gradually slipped away at a time where Villa have gone from 3 years in the Championship to above us , with an ownership who are new to the game .

Has it become harder , undoubtedly I fully agree it has become even more competitive. Then in a time of increased competition why would we retreat in to our financial shell on salaries and try to do it with largely kids .

It makes no sense to me I’m afraid .

Sonny is an anomaly , the level of superstardom he has in South Korea means with advertising and endorsements he will be at an elite level on income , it’s just not down to what Levy pays him . He is like Michael Jordan in Korea he will have a massive income long after he retires. I go to Korea regularly, he is almost a deity over there .
Totally agree - I like to go to South Korea a lot as I'm fan of the food & Sonny is indeed a god to them.

I saw his face on loads of those digital boards endorsing everything from restaurants, his own clothing, watches there's murals everywhere - helps he's popular with teen girls as they treat him like a popstar.

I wrote a long post about someone whinging about Spurs 'International fans' but I was outlying there's a completely different culture with South Korean 'football fans' & that it's fine to talk to them, teach them our chants, show them how we treat the opposition & just get not get pissed off that they take a photo when we lose cos they paid in excess of £1000's just to watch him play.

This is also why Spurs would love to keep him on the field till he dies because the K-Culture is very focused on merchandise due to their ideology that it brings them actually closer to the person they admire - not saying this is a good or bad thing but it's true

You do read some dodgy calculations on this forum , makes me think Donald Trump might be writing them. In the last season at WHL the wage bill was £126,915,000, according to Bank of England inflation calculator in December 2024 that now would equate to £166,442,385.
In the recent Deloitte money league Spurs are now paying a 42% wage/revenue ratio, revenue was circa £512,831,145 that makes the current wage bill circa £215,389,080, any claims that the bill is lower than in 2017 are very Trumpesque.

Even if that were true (which last time I checked it wasn’t as there were at least a couple of others taking more out of their clubs) the fact remains that all Levy has taken out of the club - apart from the year he took the stadium bonus - is a salary (which is published publicly) and is no more than a player paid about 60k a week. He’s taken no profit dividend for about 15-20 years. The Glazers for example take huge dividends every year.

This is all public information, as is all the accounting for the club.

There’s plenty to criticise Levy for. He’s made a fucking mess of running the football side of the business for the last 7-8 years. I’d happily see us sold to an owner with fresh ideas and a bit less risk averse. But this “Levy’s pocketing all the gig money” and doesn’t give a shit about football stuff is silly nonsense. Anyone can check and see where all the money goes.

When was the last time you went to a game at the stadium & didn't go to the singing south stand?

I'm not being racist here but 70-80% (maybe more) of fans who are in the Hotspur Experience with BAGS & BAGS of merch are international fans - I bought tickets right next to the player's bench for the Leicester City game & I was with about 10 other people that weren't Asian in blocks 104 - 001 - 103 - 212. I've photos to prove it when I made new friends there.

I have no issue with international fans but to not factor in Sonny's influence in Spurs attendance & merch is not what I see every time I go to home games don't forget Sonny is also their International captain so it makes perfect sense to me why soo many Asians attend. I'm the same when I go to Bayern Munich games, if Kane isn't starting or playing although I don't mind I would prefer to see him play (not that I'm saying I only support them because of Kane but it's to backup my point)

Harry was home grown , all profit add to that , he loved the club & he wanted it to succeed he clearly wanted out before he left , it’s public knowledge. Sonny is just a bloody nice bloke , who probably could have moved on but he seems loyal

Bar those 2 we haven’t had any top quality players but I will guarantee you within the next 2 to 3 years we will lose Romero , Deki , VdV players whose ambition outshines THFC’s own.

Then we’ll have the next potential stars , Bergvall and Gray

Truly ambitious players do not stay at Spurs because they know how it is
Bang on. This is the culture and mentality set at the top of the business but bleeds down into every element of the club. Fact is we're a sports-entertainment business now and football is the sideshow (though without the football the stadium project doesn't go anywhere).

Ambitious players learn this and look elsewhere. I also think in his own mad way this is what Conte was getting at.

I mean, the vast majority of who?

Son fans are son fans, Spurs fans are Spurs fans.

Im sure the number of Korean match goers will go down - but that's generally what it seems a lot of people want anyway.

We’ve just signed a Korean lad. I reckon we are hedging the bets on him to keep the tourists. There for all to see.

I do wonder when we signed Sonny , who was clearly a talent , with the Korean market was in mind too or it was just something we stumbled upon . The cynic in me says the latter as we don’t appear to do plans .

Regardless it’s putting a lot of pressure on Yang Min Hyeo if that’s the reason we got him
