Son, Tel, Kulusevski, Johnson. What a bunch of fucking bumblers

How the fuck can you be in charge of that bench, watch us fucking bumble about and actively choose to put Johnson on that fucking pitch?

Those subs were fucking bonkers. How do you take off Maddison and Bergval and leave Bentancur, Son and Kulusevski on that pitch?

Just my observation....interested to see if anyone else thought they observed this too.....Kulu walking off the pitch, he would have easily seen Ange in his peripheral vision getting closer to him, and IMO it looked like he was ignoring him when walking past, until he couldn't anymore when Ange gave him a tap on the shoulder. But even when Ange tapped him on the shoulder, his cold demeanour or eye contact to leave the pitch didn't change. Like and subscribe for more deep insights!!!

Both teams were pretty awful today, United one of the worst sides to come to the Lane this year for my money.

Nice to get a win, good for momentum and confidence but fuck me some of the decision making and execution in the final third in particular was still absolutely mind bogglingly poor

We did end up with more shots than them (22 to 16) although only one more on target (7 to 6).

In general I feel like our wide men look uncoached. Just not a real understanding of when to release other players, or how to set them up, or when to take a shot.

3 points is 3 points though.

Creme de la crap this was.

United suck, both personnel and tactics wise. This mad decision to play a 2 man midfield with the likes of Casemiro, Fernandes and Eriksen forces them to sit back to avoid getting overrun in midfield. Today it was Casemiro and Fernandes, the latter of whom doesn’t do much defensive work anyway. The former was left on an island against 3 or 4 players at times.

We dominated the midfield for a change in the first half, routinely creating overloads to hold the ball and move forward. Maddison in particular was very comfortable on the ball with all that space he had found between their lines. Hell, even Ange’s inverted fullbacks worked like a charm for once due to how open the centre was. It’d be nice to play United every week indeed.

What happened in the second half though? United taking more risks and opening the game up was totally understandable, yet why did we gladly contribute our own fair share to that chaotic end to end stuff reminiscent of 6-a-sides? Just another instance of Ange establishing "foundations" by managing as if scoreline doesn’t exist I guess.

Our pressing still sucks, we still get away with things by the finest of margins more often than not, but beggars can’t be choosers.

Vicario for MOTM, brilliant comeback. Spence, Bergvall, Maddison and Danso also played well, credit to them.
