Match Ipswich (A) - 22nd February - 3PM KICK OFF, AN ACTUAL 3PM KICK OFF

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I agree you cannot just throw Gray into midfield having not played there all season and as far as I aware he played RB at Leeds last season. Unless he has had plenty of practice in training in midfield which I doubt he continues to play across the back line.

He played CM plenty for Leeds last year. Including one very notable performance against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup (Chelsea were full strength).

He’s not a rookie CM, he’s just been helping us in an emergency at CB

He played in midfield and as a right back for Leeds last season but the point you make still holds water... playing centre mid in the championship is an order of magnitude different from playing centre mid in the prem. Even if he played there in training it's still going to be a different level of intensity. For me, if Ange gets another season then Ange needs to give him a full pre season in the #6 role.

I’d almost argue Ipswich are better than united?

Anyway weird having a week off innit? It’s nice. W would kill for Ange to give us a chink of light re Romero VDV or solanke tomo…

Club haven’t been showing much training footage of late

A lot of people keep putting Gray in the team as the #6. I get it, we all want to see him there but Ange has not shown any inclination to put him there even when he's had an opportunity to. My gut feel is that the #6 is Ange's system carries a lot of responsibility, more so that any other position. I expect that because he has not played there for us all season that Ange is probably thinking long term about transitioning him to the #6 next season and give him a full pre season playing there. For Ipswich, I expect the same team that lined up against United. If Danso or Davies can't go then Gray will step in. If Bentancur can't go then Biss or Sarr will step in. For the first time in months I feel confident of 3 points.

If you start him in the MF, you start him as one of the 8s and let him get comfortable there before taking on the 6.

Ipswich are championship candidate. If you think Tel is not a good no. 9 for this match then we're in big trouble and should ship him back where ever he came from in June.
It's not about Tel being good enough to play 9. His best position is on the left. Play him there.

Scarlett, we coudn't loan him out again so he needs game time. He's a number 9 and will benefit from the other players playing their best position. ALSO, it's Ipswich, They are shoskit and we should beat them with Scarlett as #9.

But Ange system has very specific demands for sole #6.
I am fairly sure that for Leeds to go against top side like Chelsea the responsibilities for #6 were not quite the same.

My biggest issue is - this position in Ange's system is very specific and demanding. All options we have have struggled to pull it off this season. Ones with years and years of very top level experience.

But we'll see. If Gray is put to that position I hope he takes it like duck to water!

...do you remember the result when Spurs played Ipswich at home this season...?

Yeah I guess we will see but if anything, playing CB and Fb should help Gray do the #6 role in this system.

I don’t even know if there is a ready made senior player out there we could sign to do it. And if there is one, can we afford them?
