Player Heung-Min Son (손흥민)

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Hard to think about worse defender he had to face this season than Godfrey. Shocking and passing defending. Once Ipswich subbed him at half time, our left flank died. That's why i am reserved with assumptions, that such performance from Son will repeat frequently.

He looked like his prime self against Elfsborg and Hoffenheim too, claiming victory after seeing him deliver against crap opposition is just clutching at straws I'm afraid. If anything this noticeable pattern of him dominating such teams is another indicator that he's washed, as he seems to be playing well only when he has it extremely easy these days.

Good news is he still has something to offer as a situational player. Bad news is those good old days are long gone. Make of that what you will.

Love Sonny in this game!

He’s probably best transitioning to an impact sub where his slightly slower legs aren’t as exposed when his opponent is tired. He certainly can’t be expected to play 90minutes twice a week like in the past.

Win the Europa league, hold up the trophy, sell to Saudi for 50million before he retires never having played there. Sounds like a plan.

I think Son has lost a yard of pace , but he has a few yards head start in his head . Both assists today were self made assists and he nearly scored too . I don't see him staying in peak form forever and at some stage PL football will be too much for his skill-set and pace . But until he starts costing us games I would keep hold of him , even if it's as an impact sub . He's our captain , and I think that it will be a telling sign if he is stood down and the armband handed to either Kulusevski or in the future Archie Gray .

The Elfsborg RB was Sunday League level and that was Son's last decent performance prior to today.

He needs to move to the MLS where he can terrorise shit defenders for a couple of years.

We should keep him. No other player in our squad is able to do the kind of move yesterday for the first goal. The step over and then going the other way. He was up against two defenders. Did the same against Liverpool so it's not about the quality of the defenders.

The headline for the highlights in Brazil was about Son's brilliance. But hey, what do they know about football.

In the UK people value a tap in higher than a brilliant move like that.

You expect Odobert to deliver the same goods?

We're not replacing him. No talent like that is coming to spurs now.

Don't think he's going to Saudi. Italy or Spain would be better for him. Saudi maybe in a few years but he was top notch yesterday.

I'm not convinced Son has lost as much as some here are saying. Son has always been most effective stretching the pitch and creating in open spaces on the counter. The system Spurs are playing doesn't value the things he does well. If the only wingers we can now consider fit for purpose are ones who make runs leading to tap ins, then I guess that devalues Son. I suspect there are still plenty of teams who would be happy to have his not inconsiderable talents.

We lost the Liverpool game 4-0 and Son was marked 2.47 out of 10 on here. He was non existent. It is very much about the quality of the defending despite you claiming the opposite
