His team is solid and plays very analytically sound but not especially exciting football.
I guess "exciting football" can be more or less subjective. I have watched a few Bournemouth games this season, specifically to see how Iraola prepared them, and I thought they played good, direct football combined with pressing. For me, that's a style that I prefer watching instead of the usual pass it sideways and backwards to death or defend inside your own box for 90 minutes.
He's very capable of getting us back to somewhere between 8th and 4th, where our wage bracket should have us ranging.
Yes and this is what we should aim for in the first season after Postecoglou is gone. We're on verge of finishing in bottom half, which is the worst season in almost 20 years. Do you think we'll just straight up challenge for the title if Xavi or anyone you prefer comes in?
I also think this season the smart teams understood the schedule after a summer with the Euros would mean a need for a slightly more pragmatic style of football.
I'd say it's been pragmatic for a few years now. No sane team is attacking or pressing for 90 minutes anymore.

Because this club doesn't want to spend money on players in their prime who are big improvements on the team. They won't go out and spend 250k a week on a game changing player, the club won't take risks. We are happy in our comfort zone and want to spend most of our budget on a nursery.

He is, I just don't rate him. Enrique isn't.

Xavi brought through academy products at Barca and is an academy product from Barca himself.

Yes indeed, I just don't think he's a very good manager. He'd fit the quota on some levels although due to his player profile and having managed Barcelona he might not deal with Levy and the way we operate very well.

Again, I just don't rate him and think he would be a close to nailed on failure here.

Sure, it is subjective. I just see it as a very analytics based, robotic style of football. I get that it would produce consistent enough results for 4-8th but we've been there before, what is the point of just going back?

It was where we finished in Ange's first season too.

I have no idea what will happen under Xavi, I just think he's a coach who would raise expectations to really win things because a football man with that kind of heritage is only about winning things. He will also know how to compete with Pep and let's be real, this season was an anomaly, we will be right back to City dominating very soon.

Sure but City won the treble playing a style of football that is not what we are seeing this season.

Will he fuck. He'd be Peps bitch. He's Pep without any of the charisma or presence or genius. So far from the great man itself its unreal, a shadow of him.

On what basis do you think he's not a good manager?

Zero adaptability whatsoever. Bad record in Europe as a result of this. He had a good league season and then things went south, got toxic at the club and they upgraded.

He won a single title at Barcelona (no cups) and then was waaaay off Madrid in the follow up season after they signed some really good players. Not sure why I'm meant to be hugely impressed by him. They finished 3rd in two separate CL groups and lost to Frankfurt in the EL under him.

And again, at a club tailor made for him, HIS club. Why you think he'd rock up in the premier league and take over one of the most difficult clubs to coach and be a success I don't know. He's not quite Ange levels of nailed on failure but he's close.

You know that how?

You make so many weird, negative assumptions about people you know fuck all about.

Ok comrade.

I know it because of erm .. watching him ... like you realise managers engage with the media and stuff right? Does he come across as hugely charismatic to you?

Pep has loads of charisma and when he talks its actually super interesting. Xavi doesn't exude any of that. I know you've decided this is your boy (like you did with Ange) and won't back down, but luckily this time we won't have to watch you back him till the end because we'll never hire him.

How do you know he has zero adaptability? You watched Barca every week did you? Or just looked at the CL record and decided to use it as an excuse to hang a completely different negative assumption on there?

He speaks perfect English.

You literally know nothing about the person but just deciding to shit out a bunch of assumptions.

You watched him so much you didn't know he speaks great English LOL. Unless you listened to Spanish interviews and because you speak Spanish made decisions about his charisma from those?

Give it up, you have no idea what you are talking about :harrylol:

Oh fuck off you Russian bot. Spent months on here chatting absolute waffle about Ange and being consistently wrong about absolutely everything to do with the club but still have the absolute front to continually come back and act like you're not a total prat who has spent an entire season embarrassing himself. Take the Shady route and fuck off for a while.

I watched Barcelona under Xavi a good amount, yes. I wasn't impressed. I'm sure you watched them even more and that's why you've decided he's your boy, just like you watched Ange at Wittlesea Zebras or whatever it was and had decided he was the messiah.

Biggest idiot on here and it's never even been close. Oh he brought through Lamine fucking Yamal, Pedri etc (i.e the most gifted youngsters on the planet) so he'll work wonders over at Spurs. Jesus christ.

Not reading all that.

Sure it was great though

He’s alright, just seems a bit of a fair weather continental type that would be leaving every weekend to jet back to Spain. Can’t see him being genuinely interested in our club.

Just out of curiousity, I'm assuming you'd be in the Iraola camp. Why do you think Xavi is a "fairweather continental type" but Iraola isn't?

Has there ever really been a fairweather continental type? Even just one example of a coach who was like that?
