Shows the strength in depth really.

Tuchel seems to have gone for experience in his options. Not my picks but no-one will care if he gets it right.

- Spence has been far better than Lewis-Skelley
- Gallagher or Wharton should be in not Henderson
- Brathwaite is England’s best performing CB this season
- Eze hasn’t been great but Gibbs-White has been good

Some very odd choices to say the least. However no one will care if Tuchel gets the tactics right and win well.

As he's won stuff, we should be content to give him the benefit of the doubt that he knows what he's doing. Southgate never had that luxury when he picked squads.

He’s clearly not planning to be around after the next tournament.

He’s also clearly gone with FA favourites. In Southgates defence I don’t see him picking a myopic squad selection like that.

Not picking Wharton while picking Henderson also gives me the feeling he will be playing very defensive and won’t be interested in controlling games much. Tuchel has mostly been a risk averse type of guy but I think we might end up not that different to Southgate just much tactically smarter. Again if we win and win well then it’s all good.

it seems like none of you have taken the time to listen to Tuchel’s press conference. He talks about some of his decisions and his philosophy

Yeah he said that Rashford was picked to help him stay motivated and disciplined with good habits. It’s fucking shit reason to pick a footballer when others have been doing that anyway for longer, and playing better.
He said that Rashford has made a “huge impact” and a “physical impact” from the bench, including in the CL.

He also singled out his hard work off the ball, his counter pressing, and tracking back.

You could make the argument Solanke brings similar attributes and that he’s looking for some forwards off the bench that are able to bring physical intensity and hard work off the ball.

He’s picking players who fit in to his tactics and not just based on talent. I like it. We’ve needed a pacy winger who runs in behind off Kane in the team for a while.

Rashford and hard work off the ball?

That’s what Tuchel said hes seen at Villa. Perhaps you’ve watched Rashford at Villa more closely than Tuchel has

I've seen enough of Rashford before Villa to know what he's about off the ball. If he's just magically started working hard off the ball now that's even less worthy of a call up.

The thing with Rashford is he was/is an elite talent. The top of his game is one that very few players can reach but that is also part of the reason, maybe, why his attitude allowed him to get into such a funk at UTD where he had a well earned rep for being extremely lazy off the ball.

Rashford hasn’t been in the team with Kane before?

He’s the only forward England have as an option that can do that?

He has and he was our top scorer at the last World Cup.

We don’t have any better forwards who play off that left side who look to run in behind and offer a Son lite role. Which is when Kane thrives.

Not sure why people would be annoyed by the decision as it’s something that has been recognised with England for a while.

Henderson makes more sense to be upset about but we are weak for cm depth and I’m not gonna get too annoyed over our Moussa Sissoko pick, aka he’s probably good for the dressing room and offers experience.

I’m gonna give by far our most qualified coach in years a chance.
