Tottenham Likely to Sign Angel Gomes
Clubs in Spain and Germany are also interested
Tottenham Hotspur are favourites to sign Lille midfielder Angel Gomes on a free transfer after the season, according to journalist Dean Jones.
Jones, speaking on the Ranks FC podcast, revealed that Tottenham are the most likely destination for Gomes if he moves to the Premier League, although he does have offers from outside England:
“I do believe that Tottenham are the most likely club to get this done if he [Gomes] comes to England. Now, it’s worth bearing in mind, he does have offers outside of England too.
“I haven’t been given any firm names on who they are, but I’m told he has very good profile clubs interested in him from Spain and Germany.”
Gomes in on a free, Cardoso for 25m, Bentancur and Bissouma out, and that's pretty much business done there, probably one that nets us a profit in the range of 15-20m too.
CAM: Maddison, Kulu, Gomes(?)
CM: Bergvall, Sarr, Gomes(?)
CDM: Gray, Cardoso, Gomes(?)
David won't go anywhere as a backup/ squad playerJonathan David would fit perfectly for us as a backup ST/LW.
Gomes on a free I won't object to since the other 6 CM we'd have alongside Cardoso are my top choices anyways.
That would really just leave us with LB to fill.
I prefer an approach like this where we fill out the squad with relatively quality free transfers while keeping Levy and his purse open to pounce on potential difference-maker players. Trying too hard for unrealistic targets has unfortunately cost us having a full, balanced squad in recent years.
ST: Dom/David/Richy
LW/RW: Son/Moore/David/Richy, Odo/Johnson/Kulu/Moore
CAM/CM/CDM: Madds/Kulu, Berg/Sarr/Gomes, Gray/Cardoso
LW/RB: Udog/LB2, Spence/Porro
CB: VdV/Danso/Dragusin/Vuskovic/Davies
That alone should leave us with at least 80m in sales only needing to fill LB and spend on whatever else we want. Add in normal summer funds of 40-50m and we should have at least 125m overall to spend.
For me looking at that list it still feels like we are in desperate need of another right-winger more than anything else. We aren't that far away from fixing all this but we do need a practical coach to reshuffle things and put them into their proper places. I would hope Levy is looking for someone who is a conventional, practical and with a teaching/development mindset right now.
Probably what we'll doImagine if we dont sack Ange and did that, it would almost like we were trying to get relegated on purpose.

I still have a bias against David as he was strongly linked to Woolwich season before last and it's reported that they didn't go for him due to him not considered good enough, some journalists I normally agree with also didn't think he was good enough.Solanke isn't undroppable David should think he is good enough to take his place
