It's not going to make him more comfortable under pressure or a better user of the ball.
He's a good egg, but he doesn't really excel at anything and I'm not sure a busy cunt next to him is really going to improve the things that need improving.

To get an option from Betis on him, I think Spurs will have needed to have Cardoso's consent (otherwise the option is meaningless) .......... so it should come down to whether Spurs decide to take up the option regardless of player.
But who knows as its such an unusual deal.
All the result of Betis not having the 30m odd Spurs wanted for Lo Celso so we took the 5m or so Betis could afford and knocked the 25m odd difference off the fee Betis wanted Cardoso hence Spurs £21m option ..... clever deal if unprecedented.

Massive week coming up in terms of that...
They have Europa Conference twice (which they really could win) with Barca and Villareal either side of it. Games every 3 days for 2 weeks.
Villareal and Bilbao are their main rivals for CL so that game will be huge.

I would expect a draft contract with him (including wages) would have been agreed/signed at same time as the option agreement with Real Betis - otherwise option with Betis is worthless if he demands £1m pw when Spurs exercises the option.
If he's a much better player when he arrives, Spurs may well volunteer to increase his wages to a 'more market' level
All Spanish contacts has a buy out clause. Betis also Could have wanted to raise it for other clubs if we don't take the option.
