Management What proves managerial competence?

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Bit of a geezer and took his eye off the ball when the England job was free is probably why. I liked him, loved the time at the club, his replacement AVB depressed me. Going from Redknapp to AVB is like skydiving into a maths lesson, massive come down.
Yeah I loved his time at the club and couldn't understand why they sacked him for AVB

At the end of AVBs tenure I started watching rugby more (my bro played at a decent level). and I just disliked everything the club was by the end.... Just relying on bale to pull a rabbit out the hat.

I feel a bit like that with Ange now, although I think this team has better quality overall but less stars so I'm willing to see what happens next

Managerial competence is a difficult one to answer to but for me it's about doing the best with what you have. I still think Kieran McKenna is good manager even though Ipswich are losing but I think Ange is a poor manager even though Spurs have 17 more points than Ipswich.
We watched Russell Martin & Vincent Kompany stubbornly stick with a certain style of football even though it wasn't working & that for me is incompetence.

Marco Silva - Fulham.
Just did Liverpool 2 days ago. Nobody has mentioned anything about it on here.
Absolutely garbage CB pairing. Squad has no business beating Liverpool.
Oh absolutely and I rate him highly. He's got a squad partly made up of rejects and misfits. He's in my list of 6-7 with PL experience who would be good. On the minus side he's a bit of a hothead and can really lose it. The worst example when they blew the MUFC cup tie being 1-0 up with a few mins to go. Also strikes me that if he had a good couple of seasons with us then he'd get his agent to hawk him around at RM and Barc
They caught LFC on a bad day, some appalling defending. But Silva has beaten us 3 or 4 times out of the past 5 and each time we've not been at the races. That 1-1 at the Lane was very jammy and completely undeserved.
Annoying that they didnt draw Preston in the cup to get to the semis. Palace seem to have their number at Craven C

I like him.

Forget all the talk. Just waffle.

Only one thing matters when you look at your manager out on the training pitch.

Something that tells you right away. “This bloke knows his onions.”

This man right here is a BALLER!

Why are people twisting my words - I mean for us.

Whoever we hire must bring trophies.
How do you go about guaranteeing that then? If it's not by bringing in guys who have won trophies with other clubs, and its not by bringing in a guy who looks like he has the potential to step up and win trophies with Spurs, who the fuck are we hiring? Are we bringing back Ramos because he's "won things with Spurs?"
You're not making much sense.

To bump this today, after yesterday's match.

This is why I kind of posed the question. Had we lost, it would definitely have been from many Postecoglou out, wnaker, cnut, Levy this and that. It was from some amyway. Had we won, then give him more time, he just needed the players back and fit etc.. It's bo!!ocks analysis or consideration.

Yesterday we got a far better performance when it was needed. The scoreline to some extent secondary to how we played. Whether that was the players or the manager we don't know, but we will get a better indication next week.

For me competence is over time. It's philosophy, adaptability, evidence of tactical acumen, creation of mental fortitude, winning the games that matter and not losing too easily. Developung both team and individuals. None of that has been formed and so,It's hard to say Postecoglou has shown competence.

What all that means for next week is anyone's guess but it provides more hope.

But it can't be win, great, lose and fcuk off. Well it can, but that's just emotion talking or stupidity.
