Croatia’s manager makes claim about Luka Vuskovic after Tottenham defender scores again on international duty

Croatia’s manager, Zlatko Dalic, has just made an exciting claim about the future of Tottenham Hotspur defender Luka Vuskovic.

Vuskovic continues to impress as the defender netted his eighth goal of the season with his first for Croatia’s U23 as he scored against Thailand U23.

Now, Croatia’s manager has been discussing the youngster and has made a claim about him which proves why he is so highly rated.

Luka Vuskovic is under consideration for the next Croatian squad

Zlatko Dalic says that Luka Vuskovic is under consideration for Croatia’s next squad with the national team in need of defenders.

Following his team’s defeat to France in the Nations League, the Croatian manager was asked about how impressed he’d been by the teenager’s form and wether he could be a solution to the nation’s defensive issues.

When asked about the Tottenham defender being included in the next Croatian squad, Dalic told the media: “It’s too early, we’re still thinking by the game with France, we have three months to prepare these things.

“He’s definitely a player we’re focusing on, we played the last 15 minutes in Paris with three defenders, we have good solutions there.”

We paid £9.5 mill for him.

Luka Vuskovic has been speaking about why he chose a switch to Tottenham this summer despite some major competition from Europe's biggest clubs such as Real Madrid, PSG and Manchester City when Spurs made their move in 2023.

"I heard about Tottenham's interest just a few weeks before my signing. I walked into the locker room after training and got a call from my father: 'Tottenham want you, everything is in order, all that's missing is your signature!'" the teenager said in an interview with l'avenir.

"I was obviously surprised, as I had only played 11 matches with Hajduk Split. I visited the training complex and the stadium. The [Tottenham] management gave me a presentation, highlighting my strengths, but also the areas for improvement. I was quickly charmed by the project."

He added: "When I heard the figure of 11 million euros, I just thought about the fact that I was breaking the record for the biggest transfer out of Hajduk Split. It was an incredible feeling to financially help this club that means so much to me. For the rest, I saw this transfer as a reward for my daily work, that's all."

On earning a spot in Tottenham's starting XI, the 18-year-old is confident in his own abilities.

"I think it's possible, even though there are already world-class players, like Van de Ven and Romero," he said. "I want to take it step by step, finish the season well at Westerlo, then earn my place at Tottenham, and then we'll see what the future holds."

Luka Vuskovic opens up on his future at Tottenham

Vuskovic has confirmed that Tottenham want him to join the squad for pre-season this summer.

The Croatian wonderkid understands that regular playing time may be limited at the North London club at the moment, but he remains open to the idea of another loan spell to develop further.

Speaking to Nova TV, Vuskovic stated: “Right now, I don’t know anything yet. They told me to finish this season calmly and as well as I can, and then we’ll talk. But they did say they’d like to have me at the pre-season with them.

“If they want me to stay, I’ll stay, but I don’t think I’d get many chances because the club has top defenders, and maybe it would be smarter to go on loan for another season.”

So maybe we won't replace Cutey when he packs for Madrid

:levylol:

We won't and we don't need to. We MUST bring Vuskovic in this next season to get him club-trained, and he is absolutely good enough to be our 4th choice CB. In fact, I think there is a good chance that he would surpass Dragusin immediately, and possibly even Danso by the end of the season.

RCB - Danso, Dragusin, Gray
LCB - VdV, Vuskovic
RB - Porro, Spence
LB - Udogie, ???

Should we not get Europe next season, we can probably get away with just using Gray as a flex RB/CB, and playing Spence at LB with some games at RB.
