Player Heung-Min Son (손흥민)

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

He always had that burst of pace and quick feet to open up an angle for him to shoot, mainly cutting in on his right, now he's super predictable as he's slowed down...it must be really easy to defend against him.

When we play/played possession football, pushing opponents back into their third he is/was always less effective. Best season came under Conte iirc. His minutes on the pitch and goals were always less under Poch, for that reason.

Or maybe, just maybe, some supporters would like a bit more of a look at a promising 19yo player who's already shown more character than most this season. A number of people here also seem to discount the benefit of momentum in footy, and what that can do for performance & confidence.

He looked completely lost in his first few appearances, but there's a lot of (negative) pressure coming into the best league as a teenager, especially when we've been so poor. Let the boy play and see what happens.

Bayern reject = Not good enough. We shouldn’t be spending 50M on YET ANOTHER non-established player.

If we’re going to spend 50M on a winger then go get Mbeumo who has 18 PL goals so far this season. Tel for 50M is beyond ridiculous.

if our immovable strategy is punts then fine - Go get the next Bergvall for 8.5M or Yang for 4M or Vuskovic for 11M. For 50M. We can 6+ Bergvalls, 12+ Yangs or 4+ Vuskovics for 50M or ONE Tel, who has shown very little - he’s all potential - you don’t pay big money for potential - it’d be stupid to pay more than 10M or so.

Incredible that Son has not been spoken about on here for 9 days.

Amy news on his injury and likelihood of him being fit, even if that is as an impact sub?

I make us stronger with him available than not.

If someone doesn't understand the threat Son offers, then they're simply dumb. Old or not, the threat is still more than anything we have fit right now. Who would seriously pick BJ over Son, for example? Only jokers.

I think Son remains a threat.

I don't however think using Johnson in terms of goals is a reason why Son would start ahead of him.

Richarlison and possibly Maddison aside, no.one offers us more chance of a goal than Johnson.

He’s done - Honestly Sonny should join Kane and Dier to win a trophy as a super sub in Bayern next season.

The guy is Spurs legend - Been a great servant - Provided some great moments for us -But honestly WHY is he still here? We’re in 16th place - Show some f’in ambition Sonny, leave for greener pastures and make room for Mikey Moore on the starting 11 of our bottom half club.

Per mins they have more goals and assists..

t's also about the type of goals.
Johnson ( and Solanke) have zero flair by definition that does not make you a matchwinnerl

Odobert and Tel have not played enough matches to make a proper assessment.

Playing both Johnson and Solanke makes you ultra predictable and that can be an issue.
It reminds of the bad old England days - when other teams played football and we just played a to b.

If you mean nobody offers a better chance of tapping it in, then I agree. But its only because we play that way on purpose. BJ can't score if it's not super simple. Put someone else on the right, and they may actually create something.
Assists and good build up play also leads to goals. From that perspective, BJ is the worst. His passing and vision is on a really low level. And he doesn't have the footwork to beat a man. Clumsiest forward in the league?
Put Moore, Odobert, Tel, or even Werner there, give them tap ins, and I think they will contribute with much more than blowjob.

I dont think you can play son and johnson together, its one or the other.

Timing runs to score as you call it, tap-ins, isn't by luck. It's instinct, which can't be taught.

Johnson is limited, as are nearly all players by something.

He does however contribute more than most in terms of goals. If we score tomorrow and I think we will, Johnson arguably and statistically is the most likely.

Ange wants the best possible state of Son for the all-important game if we go through tomorrow.

He actually looked really good in his first start at CF against United. i think he had 9 shots or something and was unlucky not to score.

It's been flashes since then and I thought he looked pretty good against Wham. I'm expecting him to bag a few more G/A's before the season ends.
