Eh Flick has had a good season but he also has a better and more settled squad than Xavi did. Plus they are very high risk which means it can go to hell very quickly (see Tottenham). 4-3 is fun when you’re winning. Xavi’s Barca was less frail defensively. Immediately turning them around, winning the title when they were such a mess was impressive. Plus at those clubs it comes down to about 3-4 games separating a good season from a bad one. Look at RM this year. Track record with analytical Spanish midfielders as managers is quite good…
Ultimately who knows how anyone will workout for sure. All good managers will have failures if they stick around long enough and take challenging jobs. Enrique has had ups and downs in his career. Working out for him now. The best thing we can do is try to hire a good manager who either fits with the players we recruit or is adaptable enough to do so. Xavi seems to be a reasonable shout. As long as we don’t ditz around for months then hire Nuno then tell him he has to play a different way than he’s been successful. I’d be fine with Xavi, Frank, Iraola, Silva for the most part.
Sure, every manager wants new signings all the time, but if we have to be honest, Barca have been able to promote some very special players in recent years so Xavi did have some talent at hand. Flick has also promoted some players of his own whilst losing his number one goalkeeper and having a washed Lewandowski
Would be nice with a tactical astute manager but just as important somone who will improve players. When I look at Bournemouth it seems like everyone is better than previous. Especially the midfield of Christie and Cook is surprising, and Kepa not giving a goal away every game is impressive. I still have the former Spanish defender, Iraola, high on my "list"
