Yes a tweet depicting Jews as rats is certainly "factual" if you're partial towards nazi styled rhetoric.

That's not actually the situation though, was it? He reposted someone else's video about Zionism and there was a rat emoji/cartoon somewhere in the header of the video. He's not posted a picture of jewish people being depicted as rats, although funnily enough that is what Israel does for it's enemies.

Anyway, it was something that he should have spotted and he shouldn't have reposted it. He didn't, and even though he deleted and apologised as soon as it was pointed out, it was enough rope for them to hang him with.

Feel free to keep making stuff up though. Seems like you're not that aquainted with the facts yourself.

Right - and we are all waiting for all your facts and evidence about a lobby that got him fired.

OK sausage, as I said - feel free to take it to the world politics thread if you want to have a political discussion.

Nah, post some evidence about a 'lobby' getting Linkear fired or take down your conspiracy theory.

You weren't pontificating about it, you were stating it as fact - so if it's fact, prove it.

This isn't a political discussion, this is a discussion about you perpetuating false claims

In the actual thread I keep pointing you to. Admin has been pretty clear that he doesn't want political slanging matches on these kind of threads.

It looks very bad for the BBC. They are mostly silent on the mass genocide going on in Gazza, and then fire Lineker who was very vocal about what was going on there. More worried about cancelling anyone who steps out of line then discussing the children hospitals that are being blown up daily because Israel are guessing that there could be a target hiding in there somewhere....

Probably was stupid sharing the video if there was a rat emoji but I hate this cancel culture.More worried about what someone has up on social media that could offend people, then dealing with blatant murder and genocide that is taking place daily.

So move your posts about 'the lobby' to the relevant thread then - bro? it has nothing to do with football or anything

Nor has Linekers sacking/resignation got anything to do with football, yet here we are.

I'm just trying not to cross a line, and I'd consider that explanations for his sacking are just about on-topic whereas debates over whether specific political lobbies exist (and the extent of their power) are not.

Ironic to see Israel committing to the "Liebensraum" policy...now where did I see this before?

They have been saying on the radio that the BBC have wanted to sack him ever since the last palaver. The fact his broadcast mates threatened to resign if he was sacked saved him then. The top brass were just waiting for him to make a mistake, now they saw their chance to force him out and took it.

I just see lineker as classic uk media biging someone up through their life and as approaching near the end of career dropping him back down. Hes a legend in my eyes. Scored v gooners in 91 cup semi and also won us the cup. Any tottenham staff winning us a trophy is a legend in my eyes except campbell and graham.

I imagine he is doing all right from his podcast (just ask Flav sitting in his Clarksons farm 😉), but will the BBC allow Shearer and Micah to associate with him and keep their roles?

I like Lineker. However, it was obvious he would be going if he stepped away from BBC policy again. This is just the perfect storm of mistake to mean he can justifiably go. Live by the sword, die by etc.. (cut the wage bill etc). If they’d have kept him the RW press would have been going for the BBC as they always do.

Irony that he got in trouble originally for agitating against anti-immigration rhetoric and has been caught this time - apparently unintentionally - reposting very non-liberal views.

What’s the lesson?

Keep well away from Elon’s cesspit of X.

I’ll even give Graham a (mini) pass as he came to us after them. Campbell not so much.

The narrative seems to be that if you say something, anything about Israel and Jews you're automatically labelled an Anti-Semitic, we've seen the how it plays out and how the media spin the narrative against those who dare to speak out so I'm not surprised that it's happened to Lineker.

But once again whatever the intention was this news story has done it's job because instead of focusing on the killings of innocent people in Gaza all the talk is about Lineker losing hos job, it's incredible how much power the media have and it's incredible how they can control the narrative.
But therein lies the whole problem .. you've just done it yourself;
Israel AND Jews ... as if it's one and the same.
Believe it or not, not all Israelis are Jewish, and not every Jew is Israeli.

They're two completely separate things.

Anti Semites would LOVE the world to assume (wrongly) that Israel represents ALL JEWS, and spit their vile anti Semitic beliefs on fusing the two together... Hate Israel = Hate Jews... thing is, they already hate Jews, so hating Israel just gives them a more visible target to hang their hatred on.

Zionism and Judaism are two different things.
Speaking out against Israel and anti-Zionist sentiments are NOT necessarily anti-Semitic.
Hating Jews regardless of where they're from, just for the sake of hating Jews, is!

You're a fine one to talk about personal bias. Actually, he's very much in favour of the facts:

As I say, nothing anti Semitic there...
Anti Zionist perhaps, but definitely not anti Semitic...
Those who think it's all one and the same are part of the problem!
