Reminded me of the 91 semi against Woolwich. A tactical masterclass in breaking up the play.
That roar from the fans at the beginning is cathartic. The release of pent up energy after waiting years to see us win something.

I honestly thought my heart was going to burst out of my chest in injury time. I could hear it thudding. Was unbearable.Just popping by as someone who preferred to stay out of the negative experience the last 8 years or so became. It has been a long time since I believed we could actually win something, and now I feel like that weight has been lifted. Hopefully it is the same for the club, as we've been in so many semis and finals and never really had the "win at all costs" mentality that the cup winners have. No one will remember the stats or care about how it was done, but we've done it.

The same fella wrote an article a couple hours earlier about how it was "the worst cup final ever" or something.. Some bitter Woolwich joke who's just typing the pain away. This is what the internet's done to "journalism", be it standard or sports journalism. There isn't a column inch limit anymore because there's no limit to how many articles can be uploaded digitally.. so anyone can just type away about inane shite to their hearts content

I think we can all agree now that the Europa is a top competition, perhaps only behind the Premier League and Champions League itself in terms of prestige.
It frustrated me immensely how during the Poch era we would pretty much throw the Europa every season in favour of going after top 4. (Although obviously qualifying for the Champions League was ace.) Playing our reserves and getting bossed by Belgian Town FC every Thursday felt very much like a purely financial decision that had come from the moneymen.
I really, really wish it was still called the UEFA Cup.
