Let’s enjoy this FFS.
I am. But, point taken.

The work he did to wind up Maguire was masterful. I was really worried about our reckless fouling in the second half and was convinced that it was going to backfire on us, but Romero was pitch perfect in his aggravation of Maguire, who really took the bait in a way that completely deflated their steady assault on our goal. I think the one-two punch of VdV's miraculous goal-line clearance and Romero's tactical fouling of Maguire completely knocked the wind and morale out of them.

He is probably our only world class player. A proven winner and there is not a single CB in world football that I would have ahead of him in a cup final.

I also feel that players of this level need to feel like their teammates are on par with them and the club is serious about winning. We are not that club sadly and so I think we ultimately need to cash in on him now and use the money elsewhere.

Make no mistake he will go to an elite club and win everything.

buttttt, what if we give him the armband. get a new manager in, get 4 or so upgrades in the summer....all of a sudden things start looking much better dont they!

yet again we are in a position where the front 3 needs major work. we need at least 2 new additions up there imo for next year. midfield probably needs one, maybe 2, and we need a better LB. id give vicario and kinsky next year too see if one can really stake a claim to be the number 1 for years to come.

romero might wanna stay if thats the case, we have CL football and the squad isnt terrible now, it just needs work in the right places. romero,VDV and danso is a lovely foundation for a defence.

I rate VdV much higher.

Been saying it for two years we need new starters at RW & LW.

Happy to give Solanke another go with better players to combine with (though I don't think he is an elite striker).

I'd be happy with 1 solid DM signing in addition. We have lots of decent 8's and some options at 10.

3 top draw signings would make a massive difference.

At CB we would need better luck on the injury front but hopefully less of a concern with Danso and Vuskovic now there to step in.

should get palhinha for the DM spot. give tel back and spend the money on him instead. yea wide upgrades are a must! richy starting last night gave us a boost just cos hes a street fighter who offers us a threat in the air, but we do need better footballers. id still keep richy as we need these scrappers who can gladly go into the trenches when its needed.

i think letting romero go now would be foolish, our CB's and now with danso as a evey competent 3rd is our strongest area! dont weaken it now, we need to build from that. a good CB pairing is absolutely massive in football.

Think he would smash it at Real. He'll be good at Athletico but a bit wasted.

I’ve been one of his biggest critics, but he was absolutely impervious last night!

Also his shithousery of Maguire was majestic! 😂

I’d be very happy for him to stay if he consistently performed like he did yesterday.

Tottenham's defender made seven appearances across Spurs' run to glory - where he played every minute across the quarter-final and semi-final stages - as well as the final.

Romero was named Player of the Tournament for the Europa League by a the Technical Observer Group for UEFA.

A technical observer was in attendance at the San Mames Stadium, praising the Tottenham captain - at least on the night - for his performance in the showpiece. "It was a dominant performance from start to finish by Romero," the technical observer is quoted as saying.

The announcement from UEFA sees Romero get the last laugh after being sent a dig by Harry Maguire during the final. The United centre-back could be seen saying: "You're the captain, come on!" to Romero after the Tottenham star was holding his face while on the floor after an inadvertent collision with Rasmus Hojlund.
