Heard an anecdote about an old flame today.
Daniella.
She had about 6 kids with the man who runs our local chippy.
It seems her fella has been letting the kids down for over six months now. Same thing every weekend. Kids get ready to go out to the park or the cinema and the useless fecker always has an excuse at the ready as to why he continually lets them down.
It seems he took all the kids to Disneyland Paris last weekend and is now expecting Daniella to reciprocate the gesture. Wants to move back in and get his feet under the table.
Of course some of the children are on board with his plans.
I suspect Daniella may have other plans though.
Her ex Italian boyfriend Fabio is back on the scene.
His Porsche puts the Skoda Stavros takes the kids out in to shame.

I often wonder about the moral hazard of such opinions. If Spurs were to win the title next year under Postecoglou- would you "deserve" to take any joy or affirmation out of that having written the above?
Likewise - should we be in a relegation battle in November should anyone saying this cup means Ange must stay take all responsibility for that state of affairs?
I do find the question of whether "some" fans deserve the happiness of this Cup "more than others" quite interesting. I think the answer is: "if you've called the manager a FAT CUNT you possibly deserve it less than, say...WillWilliams
Ange’s own arc of realisation that the English media love to hate Spurs makes this all the sweeter for the man.

I am being objective and not getting carried away by a EL win. Yes, I am happy Spurs won and enjoy the moment but that win should not cloud the future vision of the club.
But if you think this win has put Spurs among the elite clubs in Europe, feel free to believe so.
So why do all the big clubs then aim for the CL and not the EL?
Winning to the EL is far easier than winning the CL...so, according to your logic, the bigger teams should then opt to play in the EL instead of the CL
I rather aim high and fail than aim low and succeed.

Among other reasons this argument is stupid, winning the EL qualifies a team for the next season's CL, whereas losing the CL final does not.

However easy it is to win the EL...there can still only be 1 winner
As you mentioned, before only 1 team from each European country qualified for the European Cup (CL) back then, so the UEFA cup often had more in-form team competing.
Now all the 4-5 best teams from each top-league compete in the CL so there are far less top teams in the EL.
