I agree it was the right tactics for the match.
But what about the rest of the season?
It's Ange's attacking players and his tactics.
Our attack is built in his image. And it's probably the 17th worst in the PL at best
Not true. Actually it’s the equal 6th best attack in the league. The problem is the defence. We are the 16th worst defence in the league. GF - 63 GA - 61. To say we are not an attacking side is bullshit. The problem is our high line and inability to deal with a break away counter attack and defending set pieces.

GO SPURS GO

Levy is really caught between a rock and a hard place on this one. Where your damned if you do and damned if you don't.

If Ange stays and we are bottom half of the league at Xmas the outcry will be, why didn't you get rid of him after finishing 17th.

If they sack Ange and bring in a new manager and we are going badly the outcry will be, why did you sack Ange after winning a trophy.

We have CL football next season and unless Levy opens up the cheque book it won't matter who the manager is, we will struggle.

I think he deserves a go at creating a better third season than the second season, however that looks. He managed success. There were a lot of problems in the Premier League and I feel uneasy about some of his comments to the fans or in the media, but I don't really care about my sentimentality if it means the club is successful. I think there is a 5% chance he is our Sir Alex so we need to back that chance. With that comes a bit of a Mourinho-esque egotism.

That said, some of the things he says about self-image are true. However, I think in some ways he is fortunate because Mourinho was not allowed a cup final and Poch was sacked in a better Premier League position whilst still in the Champions League. Not to mention Conte finished 4th in the Premier League in both seasons and they all had to leave mid-season. Then you have Harry who got sacked finishing 4th, Jol who if he narrowly beat Sevilla probably wins the UEFA Cup, and Ramos who clearly fucked off the league for a trophy until it was untenable pretty quickly.

All in all, I hope he is able to beat Woolwich next season, maintain top 5 status, add better players defensively, be better defensively in the Premier League, and be able to have a squad that can manage playing in the Champions League. Top 5 and an FA Cup would be a successful season. It would cement the success.

I'm leaning towards giving Ange next season. I just can't bring myself to want to sack a manager who not only won us a trophy but clearly still wants to be here. I think if Ange goes we will always be left wondering about what could have been if we had been "true believers".

I don't think a new manager will have a shred of Ange's passion and he certainly won't have any kind of rapport with the players. It would be starting again from square one.

I think that trophy ceremony told us everything we need to know about the state of morale within the squad. There was nothing like that when we won the Carling Cup in 2008 and squad unity isn't something that can be faked.

Do you really think also he is searing over this? On Ange, roll the dice one more time on him, young team, players look like they are behind him, new manager guarantees fuck all but a reset and starting all over, I’m tired of managers solely concentrating on a top 4 finish, but getting no real tangible trophy. If the league form doesn't improve, it will if the injuries aren’t as bad, but if it doesn’t a season is just a season.

You really never learn do you...perhaps you spell your name "donkey"
On to ignore,
Cheers

Ange has the dressing room. The squad will be 10% better next season before we even buy anyone, but he needs a better squad. He will have learnt a lot about juggling European football and the PL, which is the most physically competitive league in the world. He fucked up big time this season (crap rotation before Xmas), but also had a lot of bad luck. League did not matter after Jan / Feb so I don’t care about the crap performances when making 8 or 9 changes every league game. But I don’t want to see that again next season. Given a choice though, I’d rather with another trophy and finish bottom half of the league than finish 4th and win nothing.

If we play with our full backs in position we could do quite well in the league.

So many goals were conceded by the opponent just sticking one into the acres of space either side of our centre backs.

At this point I feel like it may have even been deliberate to not change that, in an attempt to make our Euopean opposition base their game plans around exploiting that space - only to find we didn't leave it open, which left them a bit stuffed for ideas.
