Management So, what now?

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Levy doesn't care what anybody else thinks but he can still make the wrong choice which will set the club back.
I think it is a tough decision he has to make about Ange.

I don't think he has to, or will, make that decision. He's done what people 'wanted' (and if you take his earlier interviews into context, what he wanted) and has a plethora of footballing leaders now who will do that. The ex-Woolwich CEO, possibly Paratici. Capelhorn, Munn (until he goes, which I assume is happening), Lange. If there's some shadow takeover occurring with Staveley, perhaps something they would take control of (like Radcliff at united)

He'll no doubt have an opinion but I doubt he'll need to make a decision (though I don't doubt people will attribute it to him regardless)

It would just be natural if the trophy gave Levy and the board breathing room to not make a decision. If he fires Postecoglou and the next manager up isn't successful from Day 1 there will be all kinds of criticism. If Levy keeps Postecoglou and then things don't work out, the team can attempt to do a course correction mid-season. The fan base is divided and will be until Postecoglou is a clear success or an obvious failure.

I'm leaning towards giving Ange next season. I just can't bring myself to want to sack a manager who not only won us a trophy but clearly still wants to be here. I think if Ange goes we will always be left wondering about what could have been if we had been "true believers".

I don't think a new manager will have a shred of Ange's passion and he certainly won't have any kind of rapport with the players. It would be starting again from square one.

I think that trophy ceremony told us everything we need to know about the state of morale within the squad. There was nothing like that when we won the Carling Cup in 2008 and squad unity isn't something that can be faked.
I think that Ange has had to learn some harsh lessons over his tenure, the realisation that what has apparently worked like clockwork elsewhere around the world isn't so easily reproduced in a league of much higher quality. His steadfast refusal to deviate from the 'plan', despite on many occasions not having players with the requisite abilities to fill positions left in the team through injuries became a major stick to beat him with. The injury crisis cannot be over exaggerated, it was horrendous and majorly affected the team's (and the squad's) ability to field a truly competitive side a lot of the season, although overall results were worst than they should have been, even with a patched up team. BUT, if he does stay in the role, I believe that the grounding he's had over the last 2 seasons should be extremely beneficial to his and the Club's performance, and with the necessary backing from Levy in recruitment (in many areas) we could have a squad ready to challenge for honours in 2025-26. The point you made regarding squad morale and the players' obvious devotion to Ange is a reflection of the similar family-type environment that Poch generated, where inclusion of all staff manifests as a we-stand-together attitude. It's obvious that the players like and have huge respect for each other and particularly for Ange, and I do wonder if the Club did move him on whether some players may actually consider their future with THFC.
