Manager Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

If you really believe Top 5 is possible with Ange next season then agree to disagree but fair enuf
The way people have memory-holed our Top 5 finish in Ange's first season, improving our prior season's point total with a radically different style of play and no replacement for Harry Kane, is really crazy to me.

The degree of difficulty Ange has faced here is enormously high. At least some of those problems he has created himself, and I think the case for sacking him mostly hinges on the likelihood that he will continue to make the job harder than it needs to be, but we could and probably should be in so, so much worse shape from where he started.

This is only a job that can attract a better manager than Ange because of what he's accomplished.

I fully understand people wanting rid of Ange but I’m really underwhelmed by any of the suggested replacements. So underwhelmed I honestly think we should stick with Ange and hope he has learned from his selection and tactical mistakes this year. Managers can improve. Look at one of the suggested replacements Silva for instance. We are all too fickle. When Bournemouth were flying Iraola was all the talk. Frank? No thanks. Xavi? Great player, average manager. Like van Nistleroy. I just can’t believe the players would get behind anyone more than Ange. He won us a big trophy - that must count for something?
i'm underwhelmed by the thought of losing every other week for another season

I think it will have a lot to do with getting him confirmed and backed ASAP, astute purchases (creativity an absolute priority), and addressing the ridiculous injury/medical team fiasco. Focus on league and CL.

Get the above right and I think season 3 will be better than 2 (without necessarily winning a cup).
better than 17th? you make no sense at all. just admit your ange erection is still firing and own it.

20 plus PLdefeats and some people are flip flopping and aren't sure.

One of our worst ever top flight seasons and errrrmmmm, there isn't anyone better.

Astounding.
I'd say with no side its difficult to do much worse. Iraola for example, Bournemouths best ever finish last season of 12th, bettered again this season by 9th despite selling their centre forward for £65m. He's helped turn more money with the performances of Hujisen and Kerkez. Did ok in Spain as well iirc. Clearly a decent coach.

Similar to Frank, always losing players, did wonders with Watkins, Toney, Raya, Mbeumo. Genuinely nothing to lose going for either of those. Might not be big names but equally less likely to get the arse with calibre of signings as used to working on a budget and improving players.

Because a new manager bounce is a real thing, and we had a big one. The direction of travel IS important.

Yes, top 5 was a good achievement. And had we been improving throughout the season it would have been more encouraging.

It's entirely rational to attach more weight to recent results in forming expectations about the future, than to results further back in the past.

If Ange is going to purée the squad's hamstrings again and continue to regard drilling defensive solidity as beneath his dignity, we are DEFINITELY better off with Frank or Xavi.

The whole thing really hinges to me on whether Ange has learned anything and is ready and eager to evolve, as any top manager must be. Hard to know that from the outside. I wish I trusted the people at the club to make that assessment more than I do.

Maybe i'm just a romantic, but I just feel like us winning the EL and breaking our trophy duck after how many years should give him a bit of credit in the bank , I get its a hard decision to make and I can see both sides of the argument, however if i had to pick one way or another I think I would go with keeping him.
It does make me laugh a bit though as for years when Poch was in charge we all used to say top 4 is not a real trophy, yet now it seems that had we won fuck all last season yet Ange managed to get us 5th and into the CL then we would be looking forward to the new season with him in charge after successive 5th place finishes.
yeah well i'm a romantic too and i like not losing 20+ matches per season. i like week to week matchups and everything that goes with it. sure, getting the trophy monkey off our backs was an amazing thing but in no way would i take this season again for a cup next year. i'm simply not going to endure 26 losses again. i have better things to do with my time and if the club won't take the football seriously why should i? we are a fucking joke and if you can't see that then we really don't have much to discuss

evolve to one shot per match while we sit 10 men in front of the goal?

ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT POST. SPOT FCUKING ON.

This season nearly broke me,in football terms. Never been so disinterested or disheartened.

The Cup this year was stupendous. It was probably even more than that. I actually hope there are no volcanoes who hold such pent-up pressure ready to crash free onto any area on populated land, but that need for a release is done for now.

Let's get back to being a better than good side again, who compete on a game to game basis, and show we are a proper big club.

So what season did you enjoy more, the ones where we finished Top 4 consistently or this one? Don't get me wrong I hated the PL football, I have never felt such a disconnect from the club in my 40 odd years of supporting them, but that 1 night in Bilbao was fucking immense, that feeling of winning the trophy was better then any drugs known to man , but if your happy to be "top 4 is our everything" then I guess you are right, there isn't much to discuss.

I read that something like 25% of the points he gained in the league came in the first 10 games. I'll have to see if I can check that and visualise it, as it's mental to comprehend just how much heavy lifting it does for that season
