No-one is suggesting we turn the dial to 90% wages to revenue, just sign some fucking player we need and the mgt wants
We are 100m behind Woolwich in wages. That equates to 10 players on 10m per year….that is 200k per week. Only Sonny anywhere near that. There is space to get better players in but will he do it.
One thing for sure, we won’t get away with it again . Will have to finish top 7 for Europe or win a domestic cup.
I just cannot see Ange changing his way of playing. It’s what we are mate will sound a bit hollow if he does.

We don’t need ten players, my point is we need around 4 top players so plenty of headroom

I think Ange will adapt regardless of how it sounds. His PL system has been dreadful, the alt has been successful

Anyway, perhaps it will work if he has a better group of players

There’s a middle ground - if we raise our wage bill from 35% to 60% it enables us to sign about four players on 300K per week as an example. Top tier, stellar players and doesn’t put us anywhere near the risk % of Villa

Assuming that there other 20+ first team players are totally happy (incl. Vic, VdV, Romero, Maddison, Kulu etc) with Newbie McPlayer coming in on mega wages, and don't want parity.

Pretty sure that's how it all starts with big clubs paying average players £200k per week

I
Half agree. He gives a fuck about what he does for himself.
I agree, and to be fair he’s done a fucking good job of it. Bought the club for fuck all, spent little money of his own, climbing the richest club in Europe ladder year on year. I’d be content if I were him. I don’t overly resent his strategy tbh, at first he is a business man. Yeah we could be bought by a bank roller, any club could, but you can’t have a league of winners.

Probably sweating while weighing up what's gonna be the most popular / unpopular decision with the fan base. Seems to be 50/50 split right now so he's damned if he does and damned if he don't.
He'll probably give him the start of the new season on that basis. If we start like we finished and end up in a 2 point from 8 game scenario he can pull the trigger with 100% behind the decision.
and have another wasted transfer window and wasted season

Don't forget the hotel - £10m spent up to 30th June 2024, probably up to £20m now. Maybe Levy counts that as salaries, after all we won't be spending what we don't have!

The first bit is where a lot of the anti-Levy/ENIC stuff is debunked really. The attention to detail in the training ground, new stadium, college etc - it is totally transparent that he's a man who loves, lives, and breaths for the club and area. I think people can't see past the level of challenge it has been to get to where we are with a tight-arsed owner (Lewis) who seems to have been incredibly reluctant to see the club as worthy of investment, so the kind of person who can do the economic wizardry that was required to get us self-funding all that stuff has the additional side effects of the little stories (2nd bit) that come out. I'm sure he made someone else buy a corporate box at the club once too

Regarding the second bit, I didn't think we paid as much as 23 million euros for Modric.

I think we did plenty well in the Bale deal.
We did, but considering what Barca paid for Coutinho, Neymar etc. I think Real got a bargain.

5 CLs - at least 2 Bale won almost single-handedly, 3 La Ligas, 2 super cups, 3 world club cups etc.

106 goals scored. We also probably paid them £10m or so for a season of him on loan when he was out of gas.

But everyone wants Levy away from the football side of the club. Why are you now expecting him to be involved with it.

This is the job for one of several other people, including incoming staff.
