It's the first game of the next season. Players whose contracts expire after 24-25 season won't be there and we'll have to submit a new squad list, so, obviously its not an extension of this season.

PSG's first game in the CWC is 15th June, the final is 13th July (you'd assume they'll go far).
They then play us on 13th August and their league season starts 2-4 days later.
