Transfers The Summer Transfer Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I'd assume Lloris, Ndombelly and Kane's wages essentially made up for this drop. Having also now slashed Werners wage off the bill, we have capacity to increase our wage bill significantly to bring in elite players and, bump up our best players wages.

We do have the capacity to raise the wage bill, but that doesn't directly correlate to "elite" (or as Richard Arlison Richard Arlison says above "world class") players willingness/desire to come here.

Other factors:

Likelihood of trophies: i.e. ManC, Chavs, Real, Barca + once again entering that bracket, Liverpool.
Historical image/prestige of club who were once seen as serial winners: i.e. Man U + to a lesser extent Arse.
Regular CL qualification: i.e. BVB, Inter, Monaco, Napoli
Manager appeal: Pep, Jose, Klopp, (formerly) Wenger, Fergie etc.......

It depends who the manager is for me. If we are gonna be more pragmatic, play on transition, then I think he can still offfer something. If Ange is staying and he will be a touchline winger again, then it’s better he goes.

Let it go, he’s done.

Touchline winger, inside forward, support striker it doesn’t matter his legs are gone, he’s not creating anywhere separation on his shots and he’s a split second too late to perform actions.

Indeed. Spurs aren't yet an attractive club to rival the European Giants.

We need to keep Kulu, Bentancur, Romero and Porro if we want to show that we are serious about building a world class squad. You aren't going to attract good players if you expect them to be enthusiastic about playing with Odbert, Gray, Spence, Moore, Solanke.

What a mess to be in:-

"The BBC quoted Kevin Maguire as saying that Tottenham will have the capacity to strengthen but still owe more than £330m in unpaid transfer fees, a considerable proportion of which are due in summer 2025.

That said, a 2025 report in Team Talk indicates that Spurs still owed £441m in unpaid transfer fees, as revealed by their financial accounts at the time.

It’s common for football clubs to pay transfer fees in instalments, spreading costs over several years, which can result in substantial outstanding balances. The £441m figure, if accurate, indicates Spurs have significant commitments from past transfers, potentially necessitating player sales to balance their finances, as suggested by some sources."

Some fans still don't seem to understand that despite of beating Man Utd in the EL final, they (Man Utd) is still seen as a bigger club and still have a stronger pull on (most players) than Spurs.
Plus, Man Utd pay higher salaries.

Fans are extremely biased an deluded when it comes to their own clubs. Newcastle fans are coping by saying Mbuemo went to United over them for the money.

Remember when Madisson turned down toon for us. Was much the same vibe.

Keywords: higher salaries

I think most players who go to United are perfectly aware that they are miles behind the elite teams in the league.

how is this comparable to other clubs? I know we are second behind Chavski but how does it compare to everyone else.
