That is exactly where I sit. I do think its time to say thanks Ange and move on, but I find Frank underwhelming so really don't mind which way it goes
I realize there are no persons here who are thrilled with the prospect of Frank taking over, but retaining Ange is like staying on the Titanic even as it starts to lurch downward, because the band just played a nice tune and spending the night in a cramped life boat doesn't sound like all that much fun

Can any team look coherent losing 19 games?

So sticking with a guy who had 22 defeats isn't off the table for you? It might be a decent decision this time next year using Kompany as an example?
No sticking with a guy who had 22 defeats with the resources he had at his disposal whilst us looking to be "uncoached" the vast majority of the season, he should have gone months ago, and should be nowhere near the club beginning of this next season.
We are not Ipswich for example where McKenna despite losing 24 matches will keep his role and rightly so, because he did decent job with his resources.

9th richest club in world does not equate to being the 7th best team in your own city.

Truth is we have no idea how good a manager Frank is. I look at the Brentford squad and it looks very poor, even compared to ours and that is fine Brentford are a league one team living in the prem.

Now ideally we have football experts looks look at his set up and coaching to see if it truly is outstanding or if it’s not anything great. Our squad has talent but it’s young and very rough, it needs to be polished, we need a Poch style manager who is expert at player growth and will bring good coaches with him, is that Frank? I have no idea. My gut instinct is he is a good manager but it’s just gut feeling nothing more.

if you guys had any backbone at all you'd just say, 'i don't care how many games he lost, he won a trophy and i like him and i don't want to see him get the sack' . but instead it's, 'ooooh you didn't celebrate the trophy!' or 'ooooh you're mean to him!' or 'ooooh you're secretly a gooner because you don't like to see us win things!!' it's fucking pathetic

You are definitely very much the victim in all of this but your bravery and never say die spirit will get you through 😍

I don't see children in Southern Africa, and South America moaning about Santa. So I can he can see you Bilbao Sticky Night and raise you some.

Nothing new but more confirmation of the direction of travel. Probably the first time we've seen it from a decent source. Doesnt sound that close though so forget today. We're making a right pigs ear of it. Copying Man Utds 'how not to go about appointing a new manager' from last summer

I was very insistent a few days ago that this was not an ETH situation.

We've gotten a lot closer to that in the last 72 hours.

This needs a resolution immediately.

He is yeah, and it has nothing to do with him being a good, bad, great, shit, likable, lovable manager.

There is are ridiculous amount of professional managers. Only a handful of them have won a major European trophy - he is one of them.
But much like players, there are some truly bad ones with trophies.

Before Kane won his first trophy this season, would you say Wes Brown was a better player having won 11?

This is pathetic.

I have a season ticket to Charlton Athletic Football club & this morning I got an Email...

A newly promoted Championship Football Club has better comms to it's supporters than fukkin Spurs...

============================================================================================

Charlton Athletic are delighted to announce that men’s first-team Manager Nathan Jones has signed a new five-year contract with the club, committing his future to the Addicks until the summer of 2030.

Since joining Charlton in February 2024, Jones has overseen significant progress both on and off the pitch, instilling a clear identity and helping to build a strong foundation for long-term success.

After steering the club away from the relegation zone in 2023/24, Jones guided the Addicks to promotion from Sky Bet League One in his first full campaign in charge.

Nathan Jones said: "I'm very proud and delighted. I still had three years left but for the club to come to me and want to continue that journey meant a lot to me because it's a club that I love. We've just taken one big step, but that's only one big step, we still have a long way to go to achieve our goals and I'm glad that I'll continue to work towards that."

Club Chairman Gavin Carter said: "We have a really cohesive group forming at Charlton - from the players and coaching staff to the wider team behind the scenes and of course our supporters. Nathan has been a key part of that unity and our success on the pitch this season means we are ahead of schedule in our long-term planning for the club. Nathan understands the values of this club and shares our ambition for where we want to go. We’re thrilled to have him on board for the long-term.”

Managing Director James Rodwell added: "Nathan has done an incredible job since returning to the club last year. His leadership has been crucial in developing a culture and structure that has enabled us to progress. His vision, energy and commitment to the club are clear to see, and we’re delighted he’ll be leading us forward. This long-term commitment enables us to plan, creates stability and allows us to develop a strategy that can only benefit the football club."

I don't wanna excited you all, but for months I've had a note in my work calendar for 5pm tonight.
My wife is going out.
Her name is Angela.
I put "Ange out" in the calender and just got a reminder.

People have been saying that if there's no news it means he's keeping his job, I think that's the likely situation here IMO
I kinda feel the opposite, but what we do not want, and what would turn it into an ETH situation or worse, would be for Frank to publicly turn the job down.

And that's exactly what he's going to do if we aren't serious about paying his release clause and bringing him on board immediately. He's not an idiot.

This is pathetic.

A new contract ain't the same as just not sacking someone.
Do you want Ange to be given a new deal if he's not sacked, just so you can be told?

Weird but interesting observation:

The club website, as far as I can tell, doesn't actually reference any coaching staff these days. Just players.

We used to (a long time ago probably) have photos and bios of the manager, coaches etc. on there.

This isn't related to the current potential changes, but just rather an odd thing to notice. If you only had the official site to use, it might be quite difficult to know who the manager etc is

Definite feel of "clearing decks" etc etc...
