It’s only spurs fans that don’t watch the games, or other fans that liked his soundbites that didn’t want him sacked. Anyone regularly tuning in knew it had to happen. Just adds to the feeling of a very weird season.

More nonsense generalisation. I’ve been a STH and regular away day-er for several decades. Last season was brutal in the PL but there are reasons why. As I posted in another thread…

What I saw was a young, tired but committed squad who were going to keep fighting, keep improving, keep together and focus on our one big chance of glory. We did it. It was no fluke: it was focused delivery. And you’re presenting a patronising distortion of reality. Last season was a dirty, difficult war, but we came out on top, with the achievements of silverware and CL football. Ange and the squad worked a miracle, and they more than deserved the chance to go bigger and better next year.

Oh but it does. If you were there in Bilbao you’d understand.
Don't pull that shit...I was there in 2019 CL FINAL just because I wasn't there in person this time...

I was there at Wembley EACH TIME WE WON...piss off with that crap...

I didn't pull that card then & you shouldn't now...holy than thou ST holder since 1882? are you???

I was talking about the FACT the club is more important than a manager or player, don't feel the same???

Phomesy Phomesy articulated it best for me, not so much as the actual deed but how we went about it. I was 'Ange Out' before the final but think he had done enough to be given another chance. Probably not logical thinking but that trophy win put a rose-tint on my vision.
To be honest Mrs P, I think it's for the best from his perspective. As magical as the night in Bilbao ended up, it would have been an extreme longshot to expect us to magically improve tenfold after a preseason following arguably the worst League campaign in our history.

He now gets to leave with at least part of his legacy untarnished.

I've taken no joy from the news, but I think it's the right decision, as I don't think we'd have got any better and he'd have been hounded out with the EL win a more distant memory.

He now gets to sit in the company of Bill Nic and the General as the only Spurs Managers to bring us European glory, and won't have a terrible following season to tarnish it.

I genuinely like the bloke and truly hope he goes onto further success. Unfortunately, it won't be with us.

On another note, other than money, why the fuck would Thomas Frank (or anyone) join Spurs.

I wouldn't work for Daniel Fucken Levy. I always gave him (levy) the benefit of the doubt. I mean, he created the conditions for Poch's demise by not investing a penny for two windows on the bounce, but I suppose it was due to his desire to deliver the new stadium, so I tried to understand it in that context.

Sacking Poch was a huge mistake. Sacking Ange is a massive error.

But I cannot respect any manager who now accepts an offer from him
Cmon mate. I can understand maybe wanting to give Ange a bit more time after the Europa win and I’m not entirely sure if the timing is right but sacking him after our abysmal 18 months is not a “massive error” .

I do worry about the morale of players that seem to love the guy. Although they are there same players who also got us 17th so whatever

If they're upset about the sacking of a manager who saw us finish 17th then they can fuck off with him.

If they cared that much they'd have tried harder.

I'm baffled as to how we can hear from Kane criticising the club for the loser mentality: Harry Kane feels a 'different pressure' to win every game at Bayern Munich compared to at Tottenham

""It's a different pressure to what I felt at Spurs. Of course, we wanted to win things but if you went a couple of games without winning, it wasn't a disaster. The feeling at Bayern is that you have to win every game,"

To now, where people genuinely wanted a guy to stay who has apparently got a decent proportion of players and fans comfortable with losing the majority of the season's league games, and finishing the lowest you can without being relegated.

We've been turned into west ham in the blink of an eye

There will probably be a few miffed pundits especially the lazy ones. I think Ange gave them something easy to talk about and made their job a bit less taxing on the grey matter. However had they actually watched every Spurs game they would perhaps be a bit more accepting of the decision made
Why some soft journos are pissed.

They loved the copy they got out of The Butcher's pressers.

And if he’d done it straight after the parade to piss on the vibe or when he was on holiday that would have been wrong too!

If it was a unanimous board decision why would he be the one to be quoted as it looks like it’s solely his call?

Honestly, it’s grabbing at every little straw to beat the club with just because you don’t agree with Ange getting the bullet!

We cant do anything right. Not sack him and we are keeping a manager who should be sacked for losing 22 games. Sack him and we are letting a cup winning manager go.

All these people and media saying it should have been dealt with straight away are talking shit and going mad. If they'd done it straight away it would have been worse, imagine sacking him the day after. The club did 100% the right decision by delaying it for 2 weeks. The guy was on holiday and deserved his chance for a rest as well. I really like Ange and his ideas/philosophy, but I 100% know the right decision has been taken (as well as at the right timing).
