But how can they not know that?

Where's their due diligence? If everyone on this forum knows it, then how do they not?

So either they are idiots or they genuinely don't care because it's a multi-million pound job that, in the worst case, they get a huge payout for doing nothing.
I can't know what's said behind closed doors, but I assume it centers on the club having a lot of money to throw at the football operation, which is the truth!

These guys fancy their ability to succeed in the marketplace with the financial resources Levy DOES give. Plus the growing sophistication of the recruitment staff, it's not as dire of a situation as it was 7-8 years ago. It's understandable for Frank to think he can do much more here than he ever could at Brentford, that's true!

But in the heat of battle, amid a fiercely competitive marketplace in which a lot of other teams are operating with similar or more resources to us, that decisive margin will always be a question of the values of the decision maker.

And there are lots of managers who understand that and wouldn't touch us with a ten foot pole. We've been turned down plenty. But our poisoned chalice is seductive to some.

Frank, man, I dunno, the guy just kinda has naivety radiating off of him. Good coach, nice bloke, best of luck to him. He's gonna need it.

I am optimistic. No one will look at this appointment as the one that puts us over the top, but I have confidence now that next season will be better and the club will head in the right direction in the immediate term.

Improved tactics, player development, stopping the underperforming of players already in place... working out how to defend a set piece at a schoolboy level... Those things alone probably make us top half instantly and we can build from there.

The squad isn't good enough for more, but heading upward instead of into a scrap this year will be a better feeling.
Yeah agree 👍

What they don't understand is that the man they are signing up to work for will never ever as long as he lives engage in a sporting and competitive mentality, and for lifelong sportsmen like football managers, they don't even understand that they aren't even speaking the same language as this guy.

When the rubber meets the road Levy will betray them like he has betrayed all the others. He will deny them that sliver of financial backing every single other club on earth would give them.

That's where the wages to turnover gap comes from. It's not some big dramatic difference in the way of dealing, it's in insisting on staying that last little bit short in every decisive moment.

It's a poisonous and disgraceful way of operating, and every manager we've ever had has felt its wrath.

Yup.

Agreed on every word.

It’s getting tired now as well. Good luck to TF, I’m behind him but you can tell the fatigue in the fanbase for another appointment.

Nobody is expecting a serious attempt to compete this summer either.

Oh I completely agree bro.

I guess that 'we have more money than you've had before' is the line and he can't argue with that TBH. Also as long as he can blame Levy when it all goes pear shaped his stock wont get any lower

Runs deeper than not backing the mgr and signing his top target. There’s a stench of mediocre in evening he does - faux leadership. Hard to describe, disorganised and reactive, fake and unauthentic

What? 😂

As if you're writing off Odobert and Tel already? Werner was a loan as well, a literal stop gap lmao

How's that Igor Thiago got on since his move last Summer? Same with Gustavo Nunes...some 'stars' there, couldn't even get a kick for Brentford last season.

Would probably also criticise us signing Gray and Johnson

(who were both very much wanted by Brentford and their magical data approach)

To be honest it's probably nothing deeper than the chance to work at a historically big club in the champions league.
The club isn't the managerial burial ground that we as fans tend to think that it is.

We're a steady European presence based in London that tends to pay our managers well. We'll always be able to attract decent names. And even during the 17 year trophy drought, our managers that failed to break it always landed on their feet afterwards so it isn't like we are some form of career killer. Poch got the PSG job, Jose the Roma job, Nuno had to rehab a bit in Saudi before landing at Forest and Conte obviously went to Napoli. Even Sherwood got the Villa job.

We look at being Spurs manager like the long suffering fans that we are, managers look at it from the perspective of a job.

Because he chose the Brentford man?
