Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

You become an elite side by buying potential elite players who can go to the very top. Which means technically excellent players who can take us there.

I do like Semenyo. I am just not sure he's the technical level we need.

He's a direct, strong player. LIke I said, be great to have him in the squad, but not at the expense of other better more rounded attackers IMO
We’re so far away from being an elite side and don’t have an owner who’s gonna fund ready made elite technical players. We need to put together a team cleverly which means marrying technicality with physicality and finding a winning blend much like Poch’s best sides.

I'd say Liverpool and City are winning the transfer window at the moment.

Spurs are in a different universe.

Is Ait Nouri, Reijnders and Cherki going to move the needle though? I' not sure about Cherki or AN if they are top level.

Liverpool / City

Consistency of approach. They wobbled a bit after Edwards left, but getting him back and then the Bournemouth sporting director in as his protege means they have best in class in their recruitment and the board let them get on with it.

Let’s not forget Liverpool fans were seething last summer when they only signed Chiesa and a keeper coming in 12 months time.

and the same Liverpool fans were asking how to get rid of Chiesa 3 months later as his 'always injured' past caught up with him when playing (or rather not being selected to play ) for the hub cap removers.

Not only bring Edwards back but trust him.

Levy wouldn’t bring Edwards back and it’s worth asking why they went separate ways in the first place. Sliding doors moment for both clubs.

I don’t think a serious recruitment specialist as the top of their field would want to work with Levy because they know he will interfere and mean they can’t get the deals done they want both in and out.

Begs the question why Paratici is so glammed onto him…

Sky are obviously losing money. Look at the number of redundancies in the last couple of years .
It’s not that people are not watching it’s that subscribers have jacked it in . There are some stories that people watching on dodgy feeds might get arrested, rather than the blokes selling them.
Not sure they would dare to do it but always a possibility .
Lol good luck with that , probably more than half the country has at least one these days.

Yeah, we dont want to appoint frank and then just go raiding brentford. I really hope the club has some exciting transfer targets but from all the noise we are hearing its not looking good.

Not sure where you are getting the hope from tbh,

To me it’s entirely predictable how this window will go. 1 player they consider as marquee because of a high ish transfer fee (50-60m) but on less than Son or Romero for wages. Then likely 2-3 30-40m players on 70-80k pw who they hope will be good in a year or 2… and probably still 1-2 teenagers
