I'd like to think he has already unofficially started and is working on targets.

The problem is spurs are trying to take almost the entire backroom team with him and for some reason its all being done in one deal. I thought we could make Frank official and then start poaching the staff but looks like its all getting done in the same deal.
Perhaps Frank coming is dependant on ALL his team coming too, hence the delay.

If we do that well next season (we won't) under Thomas Frank then I'd be extremely happy with that, especially if it looks like he might improve on it the next season. (Although again I don't think he will)

I feel compelled to point out though that this fanciful scenario really that isn't much of an improvement on the season just gone.

Okay an FA Cup final would be much better than struggling past Tamworth, before going out to Villa, and losing League Cup semi-finalists is slightly worse than being losing finalists.

However winning the Europa League is far better than just reaching the last 16 of the CL.

And while there's 10 places between 7th and 17th apart from the prize money there's little material difference, as long as you're not in danger of relegation (which we never were last season).

Overall it's perhaps a better season sure, but I feel Ange might have done something similar if he'd been given the chance.

There's considerable difference between finishing 7th and 17th - one is a team heading in the right direction and the other is the opposite, assuming 17th to 7th for Frank vs 5th to 17th for Ange

No big club would have hired Ange when we did. Ange was brought in for style of play and because he isn't the type to speak out against the board.

Bringing a club like Brentford up from a lower league and making them steady in the top flight is one of the best qualifications a manager could have. It shows that not only can you develop players but that you can achieve stable gains. They were able to stand up to some of the biggest clubs while always outgunned, the common thread from all other managers is respect for the way Brentford was always challenging them.

Ange can't do any of that. He knows one thing that worked against small clubs with a fraction of his net spend (shouldn't most systems work under those circumstances?). When that thing didn't work here, he had no answers.

And the enjoyable play style thing wasn't even true, we scored loads of goals against Everton and relegation teams but were a terrible watch most of the time, often struggling to even get shots on goal.

Frank has never had the resources a big club could afford him, so we can't say what he would do with it. No we won't spend what Citeh will spend but he'll certainly be having more than he's had. We should expect something above 10th in the immediate term as he's done that well with less.
Agree. And from a spreadsheet perspective, just think how much value creation Frank has led at Brentford in bridging the gap to become a stable PL team.

It feels more likely to me that Matthew Benham and Levy both believe they have all the leverage and the other must surely fold over the minor picayune details of backroom staff compensation, but who knows.

On Frank's side it seems like he's known that he's done all he can at Brentford and this was his time to move for awhile now.

Justin Cochrane who worked in Spurs Academy for about 9 years - rumoured to be coming with Thomas Frank as his Assistant Manager - was highly rated at Spurs and was recruited by John McDermott (ex Spurs Academy Manager) to join him at The FA. Joined Tuchel earlier this year to help coach England whilst still coaching at Brentford.

Quite an effective speaker, good at getting the best out of players, both at younger levels and first team.

The delay could also be down to Brentford weighing up whether to make Cochrane Frank's successor.
