Transfers The Summer Transfer Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Is Nene definitely a right winger?

We need at the very least one of Eze, Mbuemo and Simons imo. If we secure one then the other wide sided player can be a 'punt' type player.

The Son replacement has to be a proven player.

I have no clue mate. I just looked him up and he’s left footed rapid dribbler type who’s also pretty 2 footed.

Given HG and squad requirements I have feeling Eze will be the Son replacement. He also gives us a 10 as well.

Semenyo just strikes me as another record signing that would end up being average
This is of course a completely different discussion but one worth having.

The market is so fucked now that players are going for transfer fees (and wages) that they are never going to be able to live up to. Semenyo in this case is a perfectly good Premier League player. But if he is sold for 70 mil he is never going to live up to those types of expectations. Those types of players are still very much rare.

Or Solanke for a more close to home example. There are people that have labelled him a flop because he cost a lot of money. And this is in spite of him scoring 16 goals in all competitions and providing 8 assists. He's a good forward but people turn their nose up because they expect numbers that he is probably never going to provide. Not to mention that he lives in the shadow of one Harry Kane.

The point I am rambingly trying to make is that the prices paid in the current market are screwing players, clubs and fans over in some way. Shave 10-20 mil off of the Solanke fee and he would not be listed as a flop at all. But the inflation in the market has shattered what is considered reasonable.

I can envisage a situation where Paratici is going to get us Douglas Luiz on the cheap. Maybe a loan with the option to buy..

And it would actually be good business. Currently, he's every bit as good as Wharton and Baleba although the other two are better long term signings. I'd love if we could splash 70-100m on one of them but thats just not Spurs.

Luiz fits the bill perfectly. 160k a week is steep but if we only have him on loan with no obligation then its a typical spurs move.

Slightly cheaper than Werner who was apparently on £165.000 pw. I don't know how these sites get to know players wages though.
We should be in a strong position for targetting a CDM. We are the only champions league team in England who need one so should be able to attract the likes of Luiz, Wharton and Baleba to come. Problem is Levy won't pay for the other 2 but Luiz sounds realistic.

All our competitors don't need another CDM assuming Woolwich get Zubemendi over the line.

Woolwich - Zub
City - Rodri
Liverpool - Grav
Chelsea - Caicedo
Newcastle - Bruno G

No excuses for us to not go and sign a really good defensive midfielder. Unlike the other positions, we shouldn't have major competition from clubs who might be ahead of us or on par with us on the food chain.

I think we should be purchasing rather than loaning for such a key position, we need someone fully committed.
