Kalimuendo came through at PSG and was highly rated. Moved to Rennes during PSG’s galactico phase to get more playing time (under Poch!).

Been a regular for all the France youth teams but that’s hit and miss.

His output is getting better with every year.

It’s a risk but he is improving every year and, like Tel, was willing to take a step down from an elite club when he wasn’t guaranteed playing time which speaks about his character.
 
For info, Kalimuendo came out of the PSG academy, but he wasn't deemed good enough to play with the first team (only got a handful of apps), so was sent out on loan to Lens (scored 19 goals in 60 league games) then sold to Rennes (scored 7, 10 and finally 17 season just gone, of which 5 were pens).

Like I said earlier, decent player and still a young lad, plus he's a good kid, but we gotta aim much higher. We finished 17th and are in the CL for fuck sake.

Poch had him as a rotation option when they had Messi, Mbappé and Neymar. He wanted regular playing time and asked for a move to get playing time which was reasonable for a teenager given the competition.

They lost quite a few academy graduates for want of playing time including Xavi Simons, Coman, Ali-Cho… something they’ve now rectified by buying french.
