Erm... seems to be very generous to Poch, who absolutely obliterated our academy. More likely that Jose and Conte suffered from this, as Jose - at the very least - brought in Tanganga. The main reason he didn't stay with us is because he couldn't stay fit. He also gave Scarlett his PL debut, and I think he also Nile John, Lavinier, Harvey White, and Devine.
Nuno/Conte brought in Skipp, and the latter gave a EL appearance to J'Neil Bennett, and possibly Markanday.

I don't have the stats, but I'd feel reasonably confident in saying that Jose did more for academy players in 18 months than poch did in over 5 years. People seemed to have this impression he was the academy whisperer, and I have no idea where that came from

Think Poch gave Skipp his debut, he also handed winks and Walker peters a Debut. But generally agree he wasn't great with the academy

Our academy. Our academy wasn’t good enough. Apart from Kane none of them have truly gone on to big things after us. When Paratici came in he had to fix up the whole thing according to Ally Gold, we spent sod all on it for years, a cheap operation. It’s now in a better place and we seem to have more talented kids like Moore, Donley, Williams-Barnett coming through the ranks. I would never ask a manager be it Poch, Jose or anyone to use kids when they clearly don’t have the ability.

Problem with Poch wasn't the academy, it was not sending players Like Onomah and KWP out on loan to gain experience and keeping them in and around the first team.

He also fucked around with KWP, never gave him a run in the team despite playing well when he was given the opportunity.

He also gassed up Marcus Edwards too early which clearly got to his head.

The Madueke comments that there was no pathway to the first team for him and others are aimed at the Poch era.

Hopefully Frank can incorporate Donley and Devine into the squad this season. Both super impressive in their loan spells and can cover numerous positions. Keely should have been our second keeper but somehow Kinsky arrived.
I would honestly make Austin second keeper and the best of our kids (club trained) third keeper for Europe. Kinsky wasn’t great shot stopping and he spilled a number of balls that didn’t lead to goals. He needs a loan to learn goalkeeping.

Comparably Austin looked pretty assured in the few games he played

That is probably true as well. Madueke, Cirkin and Parrott must have been very young when Poch was in charge, how much would he have seen them play really?

It's not so much about wanting a change but the rumours are that Richarliason will be sold this window and he will need replacing if he goes. Darwin is a viable alternative if we could get at the right price. He was wasteful last season but gets into the right places so often he could go quite well.
Mate, a 1 in 6 return isn't just wasteful, it's criminally wasteful.

Don't get me wrong, he's good at many aspects of the game, but he's absolutely woeful in the single most important aspect of being a striker, which is putting the ball in the back of the net.

He's the striker version of Werner.

oh yeh my bad you're right.

Think we need a more experienced wide sided option though. Moore will probably be loaned out and Son sold so i guess we are working with:

New
Johnson
Tel
Odobert

hmmmm i don't think that's enough actually. Might need 1 more? anyway i like Hutchinson.
Omari Hutchinson is "only" 21...so I see that you're starting to like Spurs to sign young talent after all

Werner is much much more intelligent than Darwin. As person and as a player.

Darwin is the type to ask for his pizza to be sliced into 4 instead of 8 because he’s not that hungry. I’d be surprised if he knows how to tie his own shoe laces

Do you know how ass backwards taking a loan out to sign a player is?

Then you have to add the signing on fee, agent fees and wages over 5 years, you're talking about £120m-£130m committed up front.

Then eventually you gotta pay all that back to the bank plus interest ffs 😆
Why would you take out a loan to cover wages and signing on fee? Surely they'd be factored in as operating costs over the course of the contract? The loan would simply be to cover the initial up front payment I'm sure. The only variable that I can see is the interest payments.
