Call me crazy, but I reckon it would be worth enquiring with Liverpool for a loan for Elliott, I doubt by now they look at us as league rivals, plus I'd think potential for him to get extra Champions League experience would be appealing to them.

Tuchel has called Eze up, but listed him as a forward. I don't watch internationals, but I suspect this is because he's playing as a WF rather than a #10. So he's not really being called up in preference to Maddison who can play tgere when needed but clearly should be in the centre of the park.

Either way, it really isn't a matter of Eze or Maddison. We need both to be the team we want to be and replacing Maddison with Eze either makes us worse (my opinion) or only very minutely better (some others' opinions).

He’s a stronger ball carrier, stronger at shielding the ball in general frankly .. he also has more flair, is faster and more adaptable/better when playing out wide because of this. Maddison scores and assists more but that’s because he’s much better at set pieces, once you take away that asset from open play Eze is better at goalscoring.

I like both players but Eze adds a lot to us in multiple positions and I definitely don’t think Maddison is an objectively better player in all areas at all. It’s certainly not what I see when I’ve seen both pull on an England shirt.

Elliot might end up making Liverpool look silly if they let him go and get regular football

He looks ideal for a Dortmund loan, but Jobe took that position already. Leverkusen maybe.

Even with England U21’s being much weaker than 2-6years ago, there is still a sprinkling of elite talent. Still stronger than their European peers collectively under Carsley.

If Romero was set on leaving, and we could get £70m by valuing Elliot at £30m of it, might be best way to eek high return (Rodrygo <-> Romero will never happen, would take Guler similarly, more risk as no Prem experience Vs Elliot, but higher potential upside).

Exactly what I’m saying.

Norgaard doesn’t bridge the gap in terms of MF quality, he’s a depth piece,

We need to focus on players who can be the level of Rice and Zubimendi then Bentancur is our depth

Okay, understand.

I.won't hold my breath, and for all his promise. Bergvall won't be competing with the likes of Rice and Zubimendi et al,for a long time, let alone Guimares, and other notable midfielders.

Some rabbits will be needed.

No chance in hell would I let Liverpool have Romero

I said arguably, and I think considering his numbers over the past 2 seasons (which includes Champions League) he has to be in the discussion.

The Portuguese league hasn’t seen a striker like him since Falcao, and many would have put him in the discussion of one of the best in Europe at Porto.

Also I would argue about teams regretting paying 60 million for him.
We paid 65 mil for Dominic Solanke who score 9 PL goals, if you think Gyokores wouldn’t match them numbers you’re kidding yourself.
Put Solanke in that league and he'd likely be scoring at a goal a game too. His value was so high because he's homegrown and a proven Premier League player. There's no question about whether or not he can adapt to the physicality and pace of the league because he already plays in it. The closest thing Gyokeres has played to the Prem is the Championship where he was far less effective than he is in Portugal.

I'm not Solanke's biggest fan but he's a player who managed to score 19 goals for Bournemouth the season before coming to us. None of our players played well under Ange, the system was not set up for him to score goals and he missed 3 months of football through injury. I think it's pretty safe to say that he'll do better under Frank.

There's a chance Gyokeres will do well but we've seen it all before. Janssen scoring at pretty much a goal a game for AZ only to flop here. Carlos Vinicius being joint top scorer in Portugal, we take him on loan and he turned out to be dogshit. The prem is a different beast. Not worth the punt imo.

For me I’m thinking Frank wants to play back 3 and at most sell Romero.

RCB: Danso, Takai
CCB: Dragusin, Vuskovic
LCB: VdV, Davies

Plus Gray also

Dragusin will be out a while too. Davies can be safely not played as well.
Davies needs to go ffs! How many seasons are we going to put up with a steady Eddie. He is basically blocking pathway for younger CBs. I don’t want hear oh his done ok when he plays.
