Transfers The Summer Transfer Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

What on earth would be the point in Jacob Ramsey? Not a DM, not a particulaly good 10 and would just limit Bergval and Sarr as more box to box options. Only thing i can think of is we cant get Bentancur to sign a new contract but its still a pretty weak replacement. He can play left midfield but isnt a winger. Its just a classic modern Tottenham deal, its doable, reasonable fee and wages but offers nothing in terms of improving us and just pads the squad.
Would it make sense in terms of having depth to cover Maddison over a heavy schedule? I'm not a Ramsey fan, either. He just seems like an average player you could use to fill in behind a better one.

Regardless of the rebuttal from club journos, this episode is only going to end one way -thats Romero getting sold before summer window closes.
I am mentally prepared he is leaving. Question though is, are we thinking of a replacement.

I would not be surprised, if we end up not getting one and making Danso the number1 with Takai, Phillips, Vuskovic taking turns for the no2 spot.
Danso is the Romero replacement. We'll be told that cause Drag was injured he was unsellable, and as such we couldn't do more than Takai.

Danso, Micky, Vusko or Ash, Ben + Takai til Drag recovers then the kid goes out on loan or Radu is shifted...that's our CB options next season.

and a psych evaluation...

:mourweird:
there is also a rumour that after the medical and psych evaluation you have to fight Simeone in a one on one

I'm not defending Levy/ENIC, but with better organization defensively, we might not look as bad, even without Romero.
We really did leave him and VDV to just catch anyone and hope for the best for the last 18 months. When they were out we relied on far slower/less talented defenders and got found out.
And they were injured because of that style of "defending" more often than not.

Hopefully with some shielding from the midfield, not giving the ball away up top as often, and not having both the FB's playing as if they were Messi and Messi then perhaps we could soak up the loss of Romero.

I get why Eze would be down the pecking order as although he’s better than Kulu and Maddison, it would mean having to let one of them go. With them both being injured, it’s highly unlikely we could shift either of them this window.

Eze can play on the left but looking at how Frank set up at Brentford last season, he likes two quick wide forwards. Given Udogie is very hit and hit offensively, we would lack a direct threat from the left hand side.

We would still have an issue though as Kudus plays on the right, meaning who the heck is likely to be our starting wide left forward? Tel has potential, Son will likely leave and Richarlison is injury prone and a limited footballer. We’re still going to need a new wide left forward.

Being a Spurs fan can feel like being in a Charles Dickens novel. We have to wait outside the door where Liverpool, Man City, Chelsea, Woolrich, and Man United feast inside and then when its over we can hope there is something for us among the table scraps. Every summer we spend two months listening to the rumors about players like Eze and Mbeumo and hoping we can sign an elite player. Then we get outbid by those teams or the player wants to, not illogically, go where the wages are higher. I'm not arguing we should accept it, but maybe our hope should be that we'll develop elite players from the young signings and get some useful experience in. I'm actually optimistic. We have young players who are going to improve under Frank and, assuming we can fill the biggest positions needs with useful players, Spurs could surprise a lot of people this season.
