Bowen will be 29 in December. Brennan is 25 next May.

Time is on Brennan's side.

Do you think Brennan will improve?

I don't think he will ever be as good as Bowen. I don't see the talent .. Bowen was much better than the current Brennan ever was back in 21/22 as well.

And I'm not advocating for signing Bowen either .. at 29 as a winger you're headed in to possible decline territory.

I could be wrong and Brennan could shock us all, but one of the best bits about Kudus coming in imo would be that he'd be relegated to a squad player quite quickly, his best role would be coming in late and nicking goals as whenever he plays 90 minutes its more often than not a lot of disappointment.

If I was a player I'd be looking at what he got out of the likes of Toney, Mbuemo, Watkins, Benhrama, Lewis Potter et all and be rubbing my hands then again I suppose it ultimately depends on your motivations on playing football are.
Yeah of course

I just think he’s manic, Scandinavian style won’t mesh. Solanke could do well but I think some players will just think he’s a fake

BJ could go on the left tho not sure that suits his best asset - back post right foots

One thing is playing Elfsborg (where 3 academy players can win you the game), Qarabag, Ferencvaros etc.

Another is playing 5-6 good sides that will beat our rotated team. Frank will not have the luxury of rotating and getting out of the group.
You don't need to get out of the group in the CL now. If you look at the type of teams in the pots we will get drawn against, there will absolutely be some teams that are the same level as the EL teams from last season and even if we don't finish top, we will still play knock outs.

He’s quite versatile too (Bowen). Can go outside with pace, can chop inside and across
I’m honestly kind of shocked he’s been as good as he’s been in the Prem; he was decent for Hull but I didn’t think much of him despite the links, especially when Dan James went to United at a similar time and was average at best. Imagine if we signed him back then, we might not have gone for Kulu tbh.

And if West Ham *had* to sell him to us he'd refuse to come as he hates Spurs. He is married to Danny Dyer's daughter, a proper 'Mr West Ham', and he'd ruin his, and his friends and families lives.

Dramatic. I bet if a chance to sign for a CL level team on 200k+ a week at the age of 29 (his chance of a big move is rapidly running out) at a club where he'd be guaranteed first choice right winger which would help a lot for England chances .. he fucking takes it regardless of the dad in law throws a strop.

But West Ham won't ever sell him as it would mean a relegation scrap. And we shouldn't be buying 29 year old wingers.

It depends.

If we don't markedly improve our squad depth, and with our attentions inevitably focused on the league after last season, we could really embarrass ourselves in the CL.

Those midweek continental away days are just a whole different animal.

I'm not sure about that.

I think Brennan has taken a while to believe he belongs at Spurs.

Now he's a legend.

He will get a pass now from all those moans and groans about him being a tap in merchant and not doing anything unless he scores.

I expect Brennan to take off next season tbh.

You're going to be hugely disappointed I think, he's fundamentally got a really limited skill-set, this isn't some raw untapped talent just waiting to emerge.

Since joining the Premier League they've had a top half net transfer spend and literally the only outfield player they've sold upward is Ivan Toney.

But sure.

Wait, so is this the one time net spend does matter, and the 'ole "salary table" is irrelevant?

Can't keep up

I like Bowen but he is approaching 30 and West Ham would not sell him to Spurs in my opinion.

He should never have been dropped by England in my further opinion.

Really tried and did well every time he was given a chance.

He's one of those players that so many fans were wrong about when he was at Hull and we were linked.

His career has suffered from loyalty infinitely more than Kane's ever did

I think Bowen struggled a bit initially at West Ham.

A bit like Brennan has.

He wasn't sure if he belonged in the Prem.

Once he made his mind up to go for it he has never looked back.

Exactly what I’m saying.

Objectively, our squad improved more to a man over our biggest competitors for that 5th spot SINCE we already finished there.

And it finished 5th with a coaching and staff who everyone says were hopeless.

Without an injury crisis and a deep run in every cup and Europe, anything less than 5th will be a poor season.

It didn’t though, because most of our competitors improved their squads, some more than we did.

He's done well with a very lightly resourced team, no question.

But the point you made was that he's had to cope with replacing core players repeatedly. That was true in the Championship, but since joining the PL they've relentlessly added more more more with Raya and Toney the only counterbalancing sales of key players.

He's one of those players that so many fans were wrong about when he was at Hull and we were linked.
Him and Eze at QPR were both linked in that period.

Some of us had the right idea at the time!

He's a good player already and his natural sense for the gaps in a defense can still be refined further.

But you're right in the sense that he's just not a very technically gifted player, that's not going to get any better, and that puts a real ceiling on how good he can be.

I realize that i should have ended my post with a smilie. It was meant as a joke, and no, it was a direct quote of what you wrote, just with my summary of it. Anyway, I think you are wrong, he better than that and he will be able to show it under Frank.
No biggy, my man. I actually like your style, you're a good contributor 😘

What annoys me most with that kid is them times he just gave up...and it wasn't just once. I can live with a player not having the skills, but I will never ever stand a lack of effort.

Anyway, that's the beauty of it...you have your views, I have mine...and we can talk about it respectfully. Or like the great Cloughie once said: "we sat down, talked about it for 20 minutes, then decided I was right." 🤣🤣
