Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

We have to do what Sonny wants since he is legend. He wants to stay, we need to accept that.

But i really hoped he would decide to leave. Would be beneficial for all parties I believe for various reasons.
The only way it doesn't sour is if Tel explodes and Son becomes rotation.

Another season of Son starting week in week out and playing like ass will tarnish his reputation. This summer is really the perfect time to leave.

With minimal expectations i didnt believe even this mob would be daft enough to keep a squad that finished 17th together. Guess we should have known when they gave Davies that years extension.

Starting to think at best now its Kudus and a 6 but only if we sell Bissouma. We have a huge squad and increasingly clear we're struggling to shift any of them.
Maybe some players are saying they don't want to leave. They want to stay and play CL football. Can't blame them for that.

Can he play in the 6?

Chelsea are probably in for him anyway

Not being cute. I find that impossible to be frank. You said that players would leave when they ask for wages outside of our structure. I can’t recall that ever happening.

Kane had given us his best for years and wanted to go elsewhere to win, granted. Moved to a huge club. Maybe, if we had paid him £300k a week, whilst supporting him with a dozen other players on £250k a week, that cost £80m each, we may have been able to support his ambitions.

Modric and Bale? Fuck, I love our club, but even my head would turn at Real Madrid giving me a call.

Berbatov? Carrick? Joined the biggest club in the world at that point. Again, pretty head turning. More money certainly, but not the motivation.

No matter what we pay our players, we won’t have the power to stop them going to bigger clubs. And there will always be bigger clubs.
Carrick was willing to stay if we made him our highest paid player. Apparently.

I've noticed that these kind of stories always circulate just before Levy sells one of our better players, "Oh but he wasn't committed to the club, so we were forced to sell"
You will even hear people on here parroting that rhetoric like trained seals.

These people always miss the KEY point.
The reason our players are like this is that the club is not showing the required ambition to keep them. Like the fans they can see that Levy speaks with forked tongue about winning leagues etc while shopping at Buy Low.

This sale will then free up funds for maybe a Kudos or a couple of "prospects" you never heard of. The end result being it will likely reduce our wage bill.

And we end up not really having improved the squad at all. Losing one of our better players and punting it on mediocrity.

This is the way we went from this first 11.
Lloris, Walker, Rose, Vertonghen, Alderweirald, Wanyama, Dembele, Eriksen, Dele, Son, Kane.

To the eleven we have now, where I'm not sure any of them get into that team...

Meanwhile Levy keeps selling an illusion of ambition and keeping bums on seats and punters in the Spurs store.
He really is the master salesman I will give him that. He has at least half our fanbase totally on a string.

Same shit every season, every window. Ad infinitum

Meanwhile we will have Spurs fans cheering for Romero to be sold.

We’ve all be guilty of buying into it before but once you see the pattern, you can’t unsee it.

If he leaves it will be because of wages. Directly or indirectly

I honestly don’t know how you keep doing this mate. You can’t believe the things you write every day.
Probably also wants to play for an Argentine, beside Argentine players, speak his own language, enjoy better weather and be in a city that has a better “pretty:complete hole” ratio than London.

The depth is there to finish in the top 7 of the PL and play the group games of the CL.....for next season I dont think much more can be expected

To try and win either the PL or CL?????:franklol:
The squad is good enough for another trophy (Fa/Carling) with a tactician at the helm . Give Alex Ferguson a blank cheque and even he will not be able to win the league with this Spurs core XI

Treat this season as another rebuild year with some of the old guard leaving (Son, Romero) and exciting new talents settling in.

Do we know he'll get significantly more money at his new club?

I reckon for players like Bale and Modric they left partly for more money and partly for what they see as a step up, or for Romero just a new challenge, and a different environment, but of course money is a key factor if the new team is rich like RM.

Thomas Frank is said to be happy with the squad he’s seen in training and doesn’t feel wholesale changes will be required.

This isn't the Son club nor should anyone care what Son wants, he has been a great player but his age and form as well as wages at the highest level says it's time to say goodbye.

I agree he should go. But how dare do you take that I he wants to stay?

Would you publicly transfer list him? Stick him in the reserves? Remove the captaincy? Make him train on his own?

Tough one to deal with if he wants to stay.
