No, us offering EXACTLY that amount stinks of knowing the release price
..
This was just a reasonable round number to offer, it just happened to get the release activated!
I know. So, I’m wondering if we offered the exact amount or an odd amount, fractionally over that strange amount, which clearly suggests we knew.

Doesn’t change anything, but it’s going to raise eyebrows.

Like when the scum offered £1 over the Suarez clause.

Maybe the whole thing is going to be another long running saga, with no quick conclusion, leaving Spurs transfer window in limbo, with Spurs supporters blaming the Forest chairman for the never ending pollava?

Who would benefit from that scenario?

yeh but the point is that 60m isn't a unrealistic first bid.
It's not like the figure was 67.73m and we bid exactly that which would be suspicious. 60m is a nice round number so if they're just basing it on that with no actual evidence to prove we knew then it's just a waste of time.
I'd say it's very likely we knew the release clause existed but it'll be very hard for them to prove it. Impossible to prove unless someone admits to leaking it. Apparently MGW has been informed to not speak to anyone at Forest until this is sorted!

But I think it's just bad business by Forest. It's very naive and also madness putting in a 60m release clause for a player they bought for 40m and allowed Wolves have 10% of future sales so Wolves get 6m! That means just 14m profit by Forest on their best player. They quoted City with over 80m and were probably petrified someone would low ball them close to 60! Just bad bad business by them from start to finish and it's blow up in their face.

Maybe Spurs played them a bit by having a close relationship with the agent but welcome to the real world. Your swimming with sharks. This isn't a board game of monopoly! Very naive stuff by Forest. MGW wanted to go so why would he want that release clause kept quiet, and he knew nobody would pay the 80m+ Forest wanted.

I wonder if the release cause was an unusually specific amount (60,346,000) and we’ve submitted a purposefully antagonistic bid at 60,400,000.

When the low-ball opening bid accidentally meets a clause

absolutely I'm almost positive we knew but I mean how are they ever going to prove that.

They're mad at themselves for putting that thick as pig shit release clause in the first place.

This is 100% going to get done.

Then I hope Forest and their fat fuck owner get booed off the pitch in every game they play.

Obviously this

They are embarrassed and trying to save face.

It won’t go anywhere and MGW will play for Spurs.

Next time prioritize getting your own players to sign new contracts instead of skullduggery to get Palace out of the Europa League.

also, if it was a weird number, i doubt the club would be stupid enough to bid exactly that if they knew its meant to be a secret.

never heard so much nonsense, a secret release clause looool.

I think ALL of this has stemmed from the fact that Demis Roussos realised the Top Secret For Your Eyes Only 'release clause' he set was relatively LOW compared to how much they bought him from Wolves for, and how well he'd improved...
By blaming US for matching that 'derisory' amount, he's doing classic deflection/blame tactics that all fat dictators employ at some point, so as to get his loyal 'subjects' angry at US (the Common Enemy' rather than they all realise their Great Leader has shafted his own people, and they direct their ire to him!!

He's like the school bully who points at someone else to blame to cover his own grubby tracks.
