This elite word is being thrown around too much, Wharton hasn't even completed 50 PL matches, neither has he played any sort of European football, EL or CL, does he even have an England cap? Not to mention the groin injury that kept him out for half a season and I'm hering prices of £100m, mental.

I don't know if the club risk that much money on him going by all of that.
Daniel should ring his agent ,perhaps he has a release clause.

Ofcourse there are so many.... For 70m or 80m that Wharton would cost , you get quality DM & CM.
Zaire Emery, Palacios, Camavinga, Pablo Barrios (85m), Baleba.
WZE was a revelation when first burst onto the scene, but that was a while ago now. Past two seasons he was bang average...should defo not make the NT but DD is a clown.

Palacios: with his injury record?! Are you mad?! Guy's guaranteed to miss 15 league games a season...already got an Argie for that.

Camavinga been a flop at Real, their fans wouldn't shed a tear if he got sold. Proper injury-prone too. For the mad wages he'd want? No gracias.

Really can't see Barrios leaving Spain. Kid was born in Madrid, been at Atletico since he was a young teen, he starts most games, likely their future captain and wanna remain part of the NT plans. He also saw what happened with Saul when he moved to the PL.

Even you yourself have said Wharton is probably beyond us now and will end up somewhere like Madrid or Liverpool in time. Firstly £80m is basically what £50m was 5-10 years ago, secondly the 6 is a very difficult role to fill hence the often high price. We have a big squad, we don’t need to buy lots of players, we need bits of quality to evaluate us.

We already have 2 6’s in Bissouma and Gray, if we are just going to get a another half decent 6 might as well not spend the money and keep what we have got and try and work with that. Caicedo who is now the heartbeat of Chelsea and started poorly is going to keep Chelsea’s midfield for years, he was just another young player from Brighton without European football or trophies like Baleba and Baleba looks like he will be the better player. Caicedo wasn’t a highly experienced player he was just a huge talent like Baleba and Wharton are now.

The club is now in a weird state, we don’t need quantity. It just needs a few big injections of quality but that sadly comes at a big price. The 6’s around with talent like Stiller, Baleba, Wharton won’t be cheap, maybe Lange can pull off a masterstroke and find one as good for half the price. The experienced 6’s like De Jong we have no chance with but we will be at a major disadvantage if we can’t sort that role with top quality.

It's Monday morning, its silly season, and this place is f****d up anyway so il just come out with it.
How many clubs in the world can cough up the 100m it would probably take to sign rodrygo? Hes surely moving somewhere as he's barely played for Madrid.

Let others make there moves (Woolwich, city, pool) then announce the investment whilst simultaneously buying rodrygo.

That's how spurs slap their D*** on the table and join the big boys of world football!

That's me done, off to take my meds now

:frankfacepalm:

For now, if we get Gibbs White & get a good no6 that means we have all ingredient of a great squad to compete well.
Say we get MGW and a decent 6. We still need cover at LCB and LB, especially when the current incumbents are injury-prone. Our goalie options are also not the best...what if Vic gets injured again eh? Also be nice for our main, 65mil worth CF to score plenty and can't say Dom is a sure thing in that department...neither are Tel, Richy, a 33yo Sonny or Dane/Lanks.

So no we wouldn't have all the ingredients after signing Morgs & a DM.

Whether its an elite DM or a functional double pivot, its not just Ange. We've conceded 60+ 3 seasons straight. Most supporters overrated our back 4 and our midfield is not fit for a CL club.

Too much obsession with the attack. We will not get back in the mix until we cut goals conceded by at least 30%. Sacking Ange was only part of that.
Not having our full backs spend 90% of the match in the oppo half will go a good way to conceding less goals

Yeah in the future not now! He needs matches under his belt and some more experience, guy hasn't even completed 40 matches in the Prem yet lol

What I actually said is why would he sign for us if his trajectory and potential is beyond us, from his point of view he is better off as a player in staying at Palace until he's ready for that big move, I can see him sticking around for a couple of years but he really needs to nail down a season with consistent injury free matches.

The injury argument has merit, it might or might not be to his benefit to stay at Palace but point is he would be a big fix for our role and there aren’t many players around who would be and that is the issue. Like striker the 6 is a very hard to fix position hence why the price tags for these type of players if often very high.

No I get your point but I don't think the club will look to part with £80m-£100m and I'll be honest I'm not entirely comfortable in the club paying that fo Wharton because of his injury record and lack of exp, I'd honestly prefer Baleba if you're gonna put big money down on a 6 at this stage.

Since when was he a Spurs player?

I hear he's doing a gig right after Beyonce...
