I have to add some balance because clearly SOME of you fellas aren't interested in it & are just resulting in calling our owner fat & commiting libel (the usual tiresome response).

The club would not be complaining if it wasn't illegally triggered, we are not "dragging it out", we don't want to sell him & never had unless it was for stupid money. I know you like to think Levy is the worlds best businessman but we think highly of our owners ability to control deals ourselves, and he is much more popular here than Levy is at your place because of his desire to not allow people to shit on the club.

I think the reality of this situation is Levy has tried to pull a slick one & activate a clause without knowing the fine print of the contract. Levy should have contacted the club & done it by the book, it might work at other clubs where you can poach players but as pointed out above, our owner will act if he thinks he's getting shafted. There was no clause reported until a week ago, and within 5 minutes he had a medical booked.

Nobody knows the fine print in the contract, that is why any technical discussions are pointless. But Forest wouldn't be taking it to the courts out of pettiness. This situation is so rare because things are normally done professionally & by the book. In my personal opinion of how this plays out is Spurs will end up withdrawing their bid as the outcome of an illegal is not worth the bother for you. Sorry to dampen on your parade, but Levy has fucked this up. Not Forest.
Horse shit

Balance? Balance? You're not adding balance, you're just making assumption after assumption, based on your own personal prejudices - which is something you've come here to accuse my fine fellow fans of.
Don't come here with your hoity-toity airs & graces pretending that you're better than us, because you're not. Fuck off back to your obese Greek alleged criminal, festering in the middle of nowhere, and spout your prejudices there, where you might find a few six-toed idiots to agree with you.
Something tells me you don’t like him.

Yeah from what we heard we offered to pay the release clause so it should be a formality from there. NF may then try to claim some damages after the fact but I don't see how they would be able to delay it unless we have the shittest lawyers in the PL.

If it has literally got to the point of them ignoring Levy's calls so that it drags on then it will be NF that is liable to pay damages.
In some form or fashion it appears that "our side", which critically includes both Spurs AND Gibbs-White and his representation is going to have to go on the offensive at some stage.

The reporting has seemed relatively clear that not doing so to date has been a strategic decision on Spurs' end, the wisdom of which is hard to discern.

Gibbs-White trained at Forest today. He is a Forest player. Somebody needs to upset that paradigm, and soon.

It could very well work too.

It’s all seemingly gotten extremely messy behind the scenes and something we may not want to push too far.

If Forest point blank refuse to engage with us there’s really no way the deal can happen I would think.

There’s history of clubs trying to be sneaky like this and the deal falling through too, think back to Van Dijk initially from Southampton to Liverpool and Olise to Chelsea.

Indeed. I'm not sure how it would progress. Presumably even if we have done nothing wrong the transfer relies on certain papaerwork and things from forests end to which they aren't or won't do.
They are literally shaping up to hold him as hostage in that case. I'm not sure if that's happened before.
Perhaps they know that MGW won't kick up a fuss and are simply trying to shut it all down.

Just seems strange with any real lack of clarity over what's happening. Silence our end and I imagine that's for good reason.

Showing up in Tottenham colors was clever and all, but him being at training today is a very worrying sign for this deal getting done.

The release clause means nothing if MGW isn't keen on the move, and if the threat of a giant shitstorm that makes him public enemy #1 at Forest has given him cold feet, there's no deal here.

Something we've all had the misfortune of learning in the past decade: Marinakis' baseless Trumpy blustering bullshit often works.

Sounds like he badly wants to get out and come to us. They legally are bound to release him, they can delay but unless they can change his mind he will come to us.

As for him training, well MGW is legally bound to train which he is doing, him training is just him being professional something his current fat owner isn’t.

I wonder if his clause had a team in the champions League came in for him. As bad as it sounds he needs to say something like forest you have been amazing but it's an offer I can't turn down and with a heavy heart I'd like to leave.
Well then there's your technicality...
Because as everyone knows, we finished 17th, so in the eyes of all other 19 PL clubs we didn't legitimately qualify for the CL...we snuck in through the back door, and has been officially agreed by Sky, BBC, TalkSport and AFTV we don't deserve to be there!

So THAT'S why Forest are questioning the validity of masquerading as a CL club!

Case closed

Well he's most probably been told to sit tight whilst we see and work through what exactly forest have to throw at us. Playing the innocent party and showing them up to be the rogue party in this is probably best for now.

I'm sure he's keen on the move and too much damage has been done now surely. I'm hopeful it will get done but don't really understand how this gets resolved if they decide to completely shut us down and not finalise this.

It's not a worrying sign at all.

Until he signs he's their player and he has to train.

He wants to come, this well get done.

The more I think about this the more stupid it is.

When we fucked up with Cordoso’s contract and allowed a loophole so Real Betis didn’t have to pay for their percentage of the sale relating to the Lo Celso transfer we recognised it was our doing. Levy didn’t throw a strop demanding legal action from not getting the contract right.

Forest put a clause in, it’s their doing not ours. The clause is activated and their owner is basically throwing his toys out the pram because he clearly doesn’t like the clause but it is a legal clause.

Only one of these things can be true, is the thing.

If Forest is duty-bound to release him, he should be at Hotspur Way right now and SPURS should be the ones taking legal action to break down any barriers Forest are illegally placing in his way.

We don’t know that Spurs and MGW agency aren’t doing that already. Secondly just because legally you are bound do doing something doesn’t mean you do it. Their owner is a literal lunatic, by the tweets from Fabrizio Forest where allowing a medical and following the process then all of a sudden it stops. The obvious reason is the owner jumped in and had a strop. We are not dealing with a rational person, we are dealing with a Greek Trump.
