Sorry to cast shade on Sarr, but I don’t think Sarr is even first team for Senegal. I don’t watch any African football but from what I’ve read in the past, most of his appearances have come from the bench.

I’m happy to be wrong though. Do Spurs fans really think that a reserve Senegal midfielder is good enough to take us into the top 6?
 
I think Sarr is a decent Premier league midfielder but nothing more. I don’t see enough in his game regularly to think he’ll kick on and become a top player. The league is filled with midfielders that are just decent.

Google AI suggested that In Senegalese (French?) Pape is pronounced Pap, rhyming with "cap" or "trap" in English.

He pronounces it Pap-Eh / Pap-Ay

I've heard the same and noted how he pronounced it in the same way as Spanish commentators do, as you said, with all syllables pronounced.

Basically, the vowel sounds in Pape and Mata are short, like the 'a' in 'cat' and the 'e' in 'bed'. The 'a' in Sarr is longer, like the 'a' in 'car'.

For phonetics fans it looks like this:

/'pæpe 'mætæ 'sa:r/

Tip: if spelling a phonetic sound don’t use Danish characters most English people don’t know how to make sounds for.
 
I think Sarr has a high ceiling. He was pretty poor form wise last season, and struggled just as Ange struggled to find a CM pairing / system that worked. He is also at an age where he’ll experience dips in form. But he is athletic and rangey, and has an incredible engine, and is a goal threat. His best position is box/to/box number 8, and is up against tough competition in Bergvall and Bentancur (and potentially MGW). I’d keep him as part of a group of 6-7 CMs in the squad.

They aren't "Danish characters", they're symbols from the International Phonetic Alphabet, not the strangest ones either...

I fully realise that "most English people don’t know how to make sounds for", which was why I included helpful guidelines, such as "like the 'a' in 'cat' and the 'e' in 'bed'"

He can't half turn with the ball so at least in this case Ange assesment was right and Pape was almost never used as lone 6.

Frank's double pivot should suit him better, but he obviously need to develop this season to keep his place in squad and avoid becoming next Skippy.

I just looked his international appearances up. Here are his stats
In squad: 48 times
In first eleven and finished game: 7 times
In first eleven and substituted: 14 times
On subs bench and came on: 10 times
On subs bench and not used: 17 times
 
So Postecoglou lied and the numb numbs on here who fell for it now hear the truth from one of our players.

No surprises.

We were a million miles away from being competent,and it wasn't some grand scheme, as opposed to poor coaching, lost confidence, and to an extent, a maddening injury ravaged season.

Good on Sarr for telling the truth. He refused to let the wool be pulled over his eyes like many of the lemmings in our fanbase and media. He saw Ange the Clown for what he was and never wavered in his commitment to winning every single match, which should be the goal of every Spurs player in perpetuity.

He is a player who will stand up and be counted. Provided the assist for our EL goal. A fighter and a competitor. A Keeper.
