Didn't think he was particulary nervous, he carefully thought about some of the questions and gave an answer, he is hardly going to say Son is not going to get much game time with the younger options I have available so I am getting rid.
The fact that he hasn't named our trophy winning captain as club captain for the coming season might be a clue as to Sonny's intentions after the tour.

Personally I'm not convinced that Frank has the aura or personality to manage a top team. I think he will fall short with us and has the potential to be another Nuno. Hope he proves me wrong!

Our previous coach had those in abundance and we know what happened there, I don't think we should use that as a measuring stick against Frank personally.

Opta.

averaging most distance covered - Kulu (1st) son (11th)

Most sprints per 90 - Son (ranks 13th overall)

Most time spent walking - Romero (3rd overall)

None of our players feature in the top 20 longest time spent sprinting per 90 - which spells the myth that Spurs were sprinting way more that other teams.

Personally I'm not convinced that Frank has the aura or personality to manage a top team. I think he will fall short with us and has the potential to be another Nuno. Hope he proves me wrong!
It's all that coaching malarkey that bothers me

He will be fine. The step up from Brentford is massive from many points of view. He needs time to adjust and bring his influence to this club. I couldn't care less about media interviews. I liked Ange very much but again he was a different personality and did things his way. Frank has to do it his way

It's his " I always win in my 2nd season" moment.
I don't think it is really, though. Ange backed his statement up.

I very much doubt Thomas Frank won't get the sack from Spurs at some point in the future, no matter how well he does.

He could do the Champions League and Premier League double, but a poor start to the following season and Levy will kick him to the kerb without a moment's hesitation.

What is success?
Will we lose 22 games? No
Will we finish higher than 17th. Yes.
Will win something? Unlikely.

My biggest concern is the bar being low - and Frank being a solid but unspectacular manager.

Wil he make brave decisions? If Johnson Solanke and Richarlison don't perform will he drop them? Would he give Micky Moore a chance?

Will he play Maddison and Bergvall together?

One if the problems of changing a manager is it takes them time to learn the mistakes the previous manager did.

I am less optimistic than I waa at the start of last season - and we know what happened there. So you never know

Doubt it, he's only ever done that once and that was because Nuno was a placeholder for Conte.

What is aura tho? Really, what does it mean?

Frank's not as charismatic as Ange, Conte or Jose but that's all aura is?

If it's self-confidence, then Frank gave every signal of self-confidence we saw with any of those guys. He just hasn't won anything yet so can't puff his chest out that much yet.

He won us the biggest trophy in our cabinet in 41 years and completely changed the narrative around the club, whilst also building the confidence of being trophy winners into a young squad. As Frank said, he also ended up a legend at this club so yes, we do know what happened there.

Frank just needs to win something and he will have all the "aura" he needs. The irrational confidence and belief built in this squad by Ange will hopefully help him do that as well.

As a fan base, we could probably do without the wild swing from thinking only "aura" matters to only "tactics" matter. No more shiny new things, we don't need any new messiahs anymore, we have just won a major trophy and we have a young, talented enough squad to win plenty more.

Seriously? Have you been hit on the head recently? Are you suffering from short term memory loss?

Martin Jol got back to back top 5 finishes, the first time we'd done that in over 20 years. A rocky start to the next season though and he was promptly sacked - half way through a game no less.

Juande Ramos won our first (and until Ange our last) trophy in 10 years, but 2 points from 8 games at the start of next season - sacked.

Harry Redknapp, got us to a cup final, and finished 5th once and 4th twice during his tenure, including qualifying for the Chapions League for the first time. Didn't stop Levy sacking him.

Pochettino, got us to two cup finals including Tottenham's first ever Champions League final. He also finished in the top 5 for 5 consecutive seasons (including a couple of quixotic tilts at the title). The only other Spurs manager to achieve that being Bill Nich. Yet the first sign of a blip he was out on his ear.

Mourinho - Sacked on the eve of a cup final, he'd likely have won.

Conte - top 4 in his first season, and 4th in his second when Levy sacked him.

And then there's Ange...

It doesn't matter how successful our managers are, sooner or later Levy sacks them.

It's who we are mate.

He did, but he's not here anymore because the club deemed him not good enough to manage it, that's ultimately the point here.

Frank doesn't need to win aura points he just needs to win football matches then he will stick around for a long time.

Sorry I misread what you said but there's no need to be a cunt with your opening paragraph, please do better.

Not a fan but we see how he goes, with success minds change. Hope for the best but it's quite frightening when you see the calibre of players all the top clubs are bringing in.
