Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

It’s pretty clear that Liverpool, City, Chelsea and Woolwich are gonna be playing their own mini-league next season. They have just pulled away from the rest in terms of the talent they’ve brought in any the money they’re spending.

could be wishful thinking but i think the scum are going to continue on a downward trajectory despite their reinforcements. i think lego's methods are increasingly ineffective and stale and they missed their chance with this iteration of the club. kind of like us in the later poch era

You only had 2 gaps, I have told you 2 that would definitely fill those places, meaning no spaces anyway
What about Kinsky, Phillips, Dragusin, Takai, Kulusevski, Davies? You said we can't leave these players out?

Bare in mind that...
Phillips hasn't played a game for Tottenham
Kulusevski won't be match fit until around the winter, when we rename the squad again
Odobert has just missed most of the season, building him back up in the league might be better long term
Dragusin, also still out injured, over Danso, Romero, van de Ven or Vuskovic? The latter being a huge weapon on set pieces
Davies who may or may not still be here but if he is, does he get into the champions league squad over the other options we have?
Takai who we haven't even see play as with Davies

Kinsky might have a shot but three keepers pre-winter, for 8 games seems a waste of a sparse slot
Grey, yeah, I can see Grey being included which would leave one more space for someone yet to have signed for the club

2 players for every position is what we're surely aiming for?

Vicario/Austin
Porro/Spence/Udogie/Grey
Romero/van de Ven/Vuskovic/Danso
Bentancur/Sarr/Bergvall/New Player
Gibbs-White/Maddison
Son/Tel/Kudus/Johnson
Richarlison/Solanke

We can make this team for the 8 games leading up to the winter without going over the European rulings of squad depth. Players will miss out, of course, but maybe come the start of the season some of those players are no longer with the club. Who knows?

They just won the Club World Cup and are making big money signings left and right. They spend bigger than all the other clubs on that list. Why not?
Still a flabby mess of a squad without many genuinely elite players, they haven't been anywhere near the title in their current guise, and thanks to the CWC they get no offseason/preseason.

And the bar is really really high. Gonna take a monster of a side to win the 25/26 PL.

No, I said for you to say "Oh look we have got 2 spaces left in the European squad, you HAD to leave all of them out, as well as Gray and Odobert

Basically in my view we don't have available spaces left for Euro squad as things stand, and we have a very large Premier League squad, in fact too large a squad at the moment.

EDIT And now I see you want to include Gray (do spell correctly please), and then in effect your suggestion is to buy player for the squad almost for 6 months, so we can name them until Kulusevski comes back despite also leaving Odobert out. Just a wierd take, sorry.

There is one other caveat on a Champions League squad, and I don't know how we stand. Squad must include 3 goalkeepers (at least 2 on List A). Which youth goalkeepers qualify to be named on List B ?, I honestly don't know if we have one or not.

Not to single you out, but I'm so fucking tired of reading this same lazy take every. single. summer. It's unbelievably trite and superficial. Every year it's the same shit, and everyone looks at the table imagining a season in which nobody apart from Spurs suffers any injuries whatsoever, and everyone else's transfers are all competing for the golden boot or ballon d'or.

There is always more competition and opportunity in the League than anybody anticipates. Odds are good that at least two of those teams are going to sharply disappoint compared to current expectations.

I swear there's a disease that some of you folks suffer from. July comes around and half of you act like you want the League to go ahead and declare the winner before a ball has been kicked.

This is not the season for intelligent takes.

If this actually were true, the Ridgeway/Cuffley at large is absolutely the kinda place players move to. Very nice little village, super close to Hotspur Way. Madders is there already, I think Richarlison too. Defoe’s lived there for years as well as well as a fair few other names over the years.
Cuffley is lovely. I grew up in Hatfield, so just down the road. There's some really nice areas in that corridor between Hatfield and Potters Bar, like Brookmans Park (Mabbutt used to live there I believe) and Essendon village, where I played Cricket for many years.

Another area you tend to find Footballers, in that area, is Bushey. Lots of high end houses that way.
