Tomorrow never comes though. In 12 months time Benrancur will be gone on a free, Son and Davies out of contract, Romero will have a year left, ditto Richarlison and its another big rebuild. I'd also doubt we'd have CL football so less to spend, potentially better players pissed off by no CL. Opportunites like this summer dont come around often and we could set ourselves up for a few years if we were more proactive
Tomorrow indeed never comes. It's jam tomorrow.
I remember having this exact conversation 10 years ago on Spurs forums, saying that if we didn't build around Kane, we'd ruin a once in a generation chance of actually doing something with a world class talisman who fell on our lap from the academy.
Because never would we be able to have a player of Kane's ilk come here unless he was from the academy.
And look what transpired. We never put the neccessary quality around him and we did fuck all. In fact, Levy got lucky because somehow Poch built a team around a group of players who all came good around the same time, along with Son. But every summer we were desperate for some real ambition to kick on, we didn't. And what happened? We came up short.
And trust me, I got shouted down for being a pessimist and all that shit, and I was right.
Never changes. And sorry to say, the one constant is Levy. What is the difference between Chelsea, Woolwich, Liverpool, City and us? It's fucking Levy. It's our owners.Liverpool have just won the league, spent 300 million and their best journalist Joyce has just said the spending will continue.
Levy needs to fucking go man. It won't ever truly change until he does. You can put all the Paratici's, Franks, Lange's, Baldini's, Conte's, Mourinhos around him, but until Levy is actually gone himself, we are stuck in purgatory.
In a years time, Romero will be gone. Son long gone. VDV will probably be drawing envious glances from Madrid if he stays fit and kicks on.
And we will still have gaps and round it goes.
