Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Yeah but no one mentions they hit the jackpot with 130m for Coutinho

They absolutely nailed recruitment with that money …. It snowballed from there

Without that one time event I doubt the success or confidence to be as bold would’ve been apparent

With all that said …. It must be particularly galling for levy knowing he held the golden ticket ….. M Edwards.

M Edwards with Klopp is very similar to M Edwards with Poch

Given ME greater trust would’ve diminished Poch’s biggest fault, that of being able to spot a player, and would most likely have reaped similar results …. Also we were well ahead at the time

He should have backed Edwards and history would’ve read very differently
He thinks he is smarter than he is imho

I don't know - people look at it like it's still the 90s and Jack Walker or Freddie Shepherd wakes up one morning and decides to put their fortune into winning the PL title.
Biggest aspect is that it simply isn't sustainable - Chelsea drop like a lead ballon when they stop spending. City, even with Pep, risk falling out of the CL places when they do the same.

There are fans who haven't the slightest fuck to give as to whether we follow Leicester's trajectory as long as we win the league, but the only type of owner that will entertain that thought is one that has something to gain from it. ENIC isn't a thing, it is just an administrative packaging on the club. No one in our ownership model has a world cup to promote, or some genocide to wash away. I don't think that is really anything that should be criticised either - the winner of the league should never be the owner with the biggest sins to sanitize.

I'd much rather we achieve something without an asterisk. Other people don't care about that. I do care that my kids are wearing a shirt that isn't emblazoned with political issues though, with crypto being a bit iffy, but better than a sleeve sponsor paid for by illegal deportations.

I don't doubt the Lewises would sell up if they had a good enough offer - but the last mention of this was criticism for the value but there's £1.8bn of facility value on the books outside of the football club, so quite obviously we're going to cost more than newcastle or man city
Each to their own ...I don’t pay for your ST and you don't pay for mine.

ok so 'someone saved a quid tonight' didn't get a lot of traction but we're work shopping here. safe space and all. how about:

tiny transfer

cheap ass levy
lying levy
the world's worst transfer man
wages scales
transfer fails
he'll sign the cheaper man

palhinha!
will we see him
in central midfield?

and now there's 3 weeks
'til we play burnley
just tiny transfers in our hand...

clickbait geeks
out in the streets
tweeting bullshit out for likes
reading one
we just laugh
football london is just so bad!

fat greek man!
he makes his stand
in his shithole stadium

moving on
we slog along
the bids we make, are way too small...

but oh how it feels so real
posting here
while drinking beer
we're signing
rodrygo and messi!
but I say softly, slowly,

chorus: (everyone!)

hold me over tiny transfer!
count the years left on his contract
under bid with shitty wages
do you want to let him go for free?

(repeat)

ENIC is 'controlled' by Collecott and Levy. It is owned by the Lewis trust. Ownership and Control are not the same.

ENIC has no assets except the club, so it is a dumb argument to focus it on that. The matter is that the ownership that has the capital to invest, doesn't. Levy and Collecott can't sit there and magic it up, it needs to come from the Lewis Family.

There's a whole different thread for this nonsense where it has been stated (and ignored) multiple times.
Whilst your overall assertion that ENIC control Spurs is correct. The company you attach ENIC Ltd is really nothing to do with the direct ownership of Spurs just a UK subsidiary.

The immediate ownership of Spurs is ENIC Sports Ltd, a company based in the Bahamas of which I believe Collecott has no directorship.

You act as if Liverpool didn't spend years being called the Dippers precisely because they followed a pragmatic, hidden-value approach to their transfer strategy. Even when Klopp came along they bought Bobby Firmino and Christian Benteke, and these were not Big Names that Big Clubs were competing for. Then they followed it up with Mane and Wijnaldum, with only us for competition there, and Salah came the following year as a Chelsea reject reborn at Roma.

Not a single one of these transfers was a marquee signing, not a single one was even over 40m pounds, and look where it got them. NOW they cam afford to spend the earth on whomever they want, because Klopp earned it.

But we're not competing with them. We're competing with Newcastle, and even in the past 3 years we've massively out-spent them. Here, take a look at this fun little chart I made (all prices in Euros, all data from transfermarkt: Spurs, Woolwich, Newcastle):

Spending.jpg

In case anyone is confused, we've been spending a lot of money to try and catch/keep up.

Edit: I can't get the Scum link to work because the forum autochanges to Woolwich, even in a URL.
Liverpool are not called Dippers because of their pragmatic approach in the transfer market. 😆

The are called Dippers because of their fans, it is short for Bin-Dippers under the stereotypical always searching in bins for their next meal.

Don't give up the day job.

Keeping aside the Club trained math nonsense....

lets say Son, Bissouma, Solomon, Dragusin, Davies leave (sold or loaned)....We keep Romero.
and Buy/loan Paulhinha, Gibbs White with Kudus , Takai in...

I dont know about others - I would be 100% happy with this window. Its good enough for me for where we are as a club with first season under Frank

Good squad that, we should be pushing for 5th with that even without further signings
Still no one in there that strikes me of being able to drive the team on when needed. A leader basically. Someone with a nasty streak who you know hates to lose and keeps going. Maybe a Gallagher, Elliot, Palhiniha or a MGW. Either of these, maybe a couple of these and a feared number 9 that CB's hate coming up against.

Just a general bit of balls throughout the team when things ain't going to plan. As good as they maybe I don't see it in any of our front line or midfield.
