Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

So, to imply the point, can you or anyone else think of any examples where clubs have signed, say, 5 or more first team players in one window in a way that has set a positive data point?
2004-05 Chelsea, Ferreira, Cech, Robben, Drogba and Carvalho

2005-06 Tottenham, Huddlestone, Lennon, Davids, Lee Young-Pyo, Jenas (plus Tainio and Stalteri for good measure)

How about Newcastle January 2022? Trippier, Wood, Guimaraes, Burn and Targett. One of the sharpest U-turns ever.

I still think the Tel signing carries a question mark in terms of where (if not why)....... Something that depends of Frank's vision for him and the line-up (Ditto what Kulu's future looks like).

If we're to play 4231; I'd prefer to see him take Richy's role in the squad as back-up ST and emergency LW and use the proceeds of Rich & Son's sales to help fund a first XI ready LW. Leaving us with something like:

RW: Kudus (Johnson / Kulu)
ST: Solanke (Tel / Lankshire /Scarlett)
LW: [ New ] (Odobert / Moore)

All that said; my first choice would be 352; in which case a front 2 of:

Kudus (Johnson / Lankshire) / Solanke (Tel / Scarlett)

......With Odo, Kulu, Moore fighting it out for AM duties.

Haven't seen anything from Tel that makes me think he can be the lone #9 yet. Key word yet. Maybe once he's more acclimated to the PL.

Think he needs the freedom and space on the LW to cut inside on. Or i think we see more of 2 up top this season. Given our lack of #10 depth right now. Madders needs to be handled properly. Kulu won't be back till midseason. Not considering MGW at this point.

So could we see some 4-2-2-2 ? I think so.

I asked GPT to deconstruct this obviously-written-by-gpt bollocks and it said this:

It’s likely referencing a non-star squad player, possibly a versatile midfielder or defender, 28–32, with a quiet career, maybe a free agent or someone often moved on. Possibly written with LLM help, but coherent enough to keep Spurs fans guessing. If it's "complete bollocks", it’s at least well-crafted bollocks.
  • Mario Hermoso (left-footed CB/LB, often free in summers)
  • Pierre-Emile Højbjerg (still at Spurs, but this could hint at his departure rather than arrival)
  • Connor Gallagher (in and out of Chelsea plans, box-to-box, not flashy, not a leader)
  • Marc Cucurella (erratic career, not loved at Chelsea, spiral trajectory)

Meh.

I reckon it's just confirming Ben Davies extension.

Is it just me, or are Newcastle being majorly cock blocked?
First Liverpool tap up Isaak. Then when Newcastle refuse to sell they sign Ekitike. Now Newcastle are trying to sign James Trafford but City have stepped in.

It feels like teams are trying to sabotage them.

And im here for it.
Trillions of pounds and no way to spend it :roflmao:

They’ve got no sporting director. They’ve either been pouched or left. Obviously can’t conclude deals.

I'd concur that our starting LW spot is a concern for me. I don't concur to the melodrama of the word "horrendous" or that it represents a depth issue specifically.

Oh there is (and it does)..... We were getting the same shit from our fans when our squad WAS better than both.

Fans are so often oblivious to the plights of the team they compare us to.

However; you seem to be replying on the basis that I'm completely content with the make-up of our squad... I'm not.

I think our attack is shit compared to most of the top 8 teams.

From ‘What Lies Beneath’ on SC

I dwell in corners carved by time,
Where neither peak nor pit align.
Too lean for kings, too stout for thieves,
I pass in silence, dropped like leaves.
Fourfold I tread the spiral track,
Yet never lead, nor dare look back

Have fun, kids!!

:nunothumb:

they love that shit over there. they'll spend the next 2 days guessing, giving likes and donating

until he reveals a week later than he had heard from his 'guy' that is was a cryptic about there being movement in the MGW deal

I asked Grok the same question and it said this:

Given the ITK’s reputation as a moderator (“What Lies Beneath”) known for “blowing hot air,” it’s highly likely this is a troll or discussion bait. Spurs forums (e.g., The Fighting Cock or Spurs Community) are notorious for ITKs posting vague hints to generate buzz, especially during transfer windows. The 2025 summer window is still speculative, but Tottenham’s transfer activity typically involves 3-5 signings (based on past windows), and fans are hungry for hints. A moderator crafting a cryptic poem fits the pattern of stirring excitement without committing to specifics.
  • Evidence of AI Use: The poem’s flowery language and lack of direct football terminology (e.g., no mention of “midfield” or “transfer”) mirror AI outputs when asked for creative, cryptic writing. If I were tasked with generating a hint for a Spurs signing, I’d produce something similarly vague to avoid being pinned down.
  • Troll Likelihood: High. The moderator’s history of generating discussion, combined with the poem’s ambiguity, suggests it’s more about engagement than a genuine leak. ITKs often use vague hints to maintain credibility without risking being wrong.

How about Thomas Frank's first summer in charge of Brentford?

Mbuemo, Raya, Norgaard, Pinnock, Jensen and Jansson, all immediate starters. Surged from mid-table to the brink of the PL.
