A loan won’t be a bad thing for him, at his age it’s best to play regularly.

A bit strange from a squad list POV though. I’m not sure Austin is anywhere near the level required to be the 2nd keeper for a CL team. Surely we will sign someone.

Two rotten keepers, but gives us a chance to sign a decent keeper and see if Kinsky can improve, mind you, improving a keepers reactions and agility is easy, changing their focus is much, much harder

Last season, Kinsky was parachutted into a team that gives away easy chance every 5 minutes. I dare say even best GK of this period would have struggled in a kamikaze Ange football.

IMO , I will give a pass for Kinsky on some of the errors. Most errors werent that bad anyway....

Personally, I wouldnt mind Kinsky being no1 for us. I rate Vicario as shot stopper but his awful long kicks and inability to command his box in set pieces means he can always be improved up on

Lille would be the perfect loan. Chevalier is on his way to PSG. Kinsky will play a lot and when you see how much progress Chevalier made there, it will be a great place for Kinsky to get game time and kick on.

Issue is who we have as backup to Vicario this season.

Good long term move : difficult short term decision.

Would be so stupid! Look what happened last season. Plus Kinsky is better than Vic.

It utterly baffling.
Kinsky was absolutely awful - his error per game record was sky high

Yet somehow fans rate him.
One can only imagine what they would say if he was good. Presumably he would be the best keeper ever.

Fortunately, Frank seems to have sussed on pretty early that it might be a good idea for Kinsky to make his mistakes elsewhere.

Just because you assume something, it doesnt become a fact....
FWIW. On a 90 min comparison on shots saved , Kinsky does beat Vicario last season.

Here' a fact that not many realize

Kinsky has NEVER played with Romero Or Van De Ven till date , not 1 minute in competitive football.
Kinsky played for the first time with Van De Ven this saturday for the 20 minutes in 2nd half....in the friendly

Sure , Kinsky did make 2 big mistakes but shot stopping wise, gap isnt that great with Vicario. Vicario too makes mistakes especially in set pieces. Most times, Vicario makes the first mistake of not collecting the ball or punching it bad and then defense gets put under pressure for more shots.

Oh btw....On Frank : Kinsky vs Brentford away in PL : we won the game 2-0 with cleansheet. Lets just say, for now if he ends up going on loan, its not entirely a Frank decision

Kinsky made about 10 bad mistakes

Kinsky made more than two bad errors.
I would say he made more bad errors that led directly to goals in the few matches he played - than Vic has in total.

Kinsky errors are more worrying because they are handling - the very essence of goalkeeping.
Set pieces - distribution can be coached and improved. Handling is more intrinsic.
Based on what we have seen so far - Kinsky just does not look like a good keeper.

He is young and may improve - loan is a good option

So why was he identified as our #2 and signed?

I'm glad Kinsky is getting a loan move- would be best for him to get as many games as possible so he can improve.

Looks like we need to split #2 duties between Austin and some wily old vet we probably overpay a bit to stay on the bench.

I liked Austin a lot in his minutes last season and think he can be a good backup keeper for us.

Vicario is a quite dodgy keeper in certain respects, but since you don't chop and change your starting keeper week in and week out the way you can do outfield players, Kinsky would have to actually top him in the pecking order to be able to play regularly. I don't see it happening this soon.

And there's no point keeping him just so he can play the odd cup game. A -much- worse keeper can also do that.
