Any legal action is just a matter of finances, it's not like MGW could possibly see any legal repercussions for leaking his release clause beyond a fine, which we would pay anyway as is always the case in these instances. I want to believe that Marinakis held a gun to his head with that contract waved in front of his face by a nearby henchman until he agreed to sign it but it just isn't realistic, as I said what can Marinakis threaten MGW with? Once he's in London in a Spurs shirt he's completely untouchable, doesn't matter how much money he has, the resources thrown into any investigation of any unfortunate circumstance that may befall MGW after his transfer would be staggering, there's absolutely no way you get away with blackmailing (or worse) a PL player in 2025.
I think by far the likeliest scenario is that there is a new clause in the new contract active from next summer for very specific clubs, likely clubs who have been in European competition consistently over x number of years so Marinakis can save face. MGW is 25 and has his entire prime in front of him once his current Forest contract expires, even if he doesn't get a move he is now on at least the £150k/week being reported plus whatever else Marinakis has bribed him with, he has time and simply does not need the Tottenham move. Either he continues playing as well as he has and someone will stump up the new RC next summer or they won't and he's free at 28 to go wherever he likes on a free with massive wages to boot.
I hate it, I hate that we've fucked our chances sitting on our hands for 3 windows under Poch and then going for the cheap option time and time and time again when we had the pull to bring in real top class players, but we did, and we are paying the price for it now, players will happily pass up rolling the dice on joining us to wait it out for a surer thing a year or two down the line. We really need to pray Frank is the real deal and we can start putting our tarnished image back together over the next 2 seasons.

you say about it being 2025 etc, aint this guy a heroin smuggler? MGW is probably shit scared of him, that was evident enough in the strange video they done with him lurking over him. again, that hardly screamed MGW is 'delighted' to have signed did it, he looked on edge.

if its true that he was booked in for a medical, that must mean he had agreed to joined, couple that in with the fact that apparently forest were trying to get him to sign a new deal for 12 months previous...then all of a sudden, its come out this was some secret release clause which then means he or his agent have broken the terms....then he signs a new deal while looking like hes been taken hostage....yea thats hardly him turning down spurs imo.

the whole thing was very strange and will no doubt come out in time, but all the evidence points to the fat cunt forcing this to happen.

The reason I harangue some posters is because they're OTT and fact-free with some of their comments (e.g. we don't spend any money; Levy pockets the money, etc etc). It's Levy Out or bust, whereas what would benefit us the most is him running the business side of things, which is something he excels at, and having a world class football operations department running the sporting side. But hardly anyone makes this kind of argument. It's always a guttural reaction, so I'm going to call people out on that.

I'm not saying he was happy to stay at Forest, I'm sure given half a chance he would love to be turning out in Liverpool red or Real Madrid white, I'm saying he might have been happier to give Forest another year and agree to a release clause that Marinakis is content with agreeing to, and take his chances on playing his way into an aforementioned Liverpool or Real Madrid. A lot can change in a season and his stock may be cumulatively higher this time next summer.
I can't see a universe where any level of foreign drug smuggler thinks they have the protection to make menaces towards a premier league footballer, read again, a multi-millionaire, and ever show their face on these shores again. There are a million reasons MGW might have looked like he didn't want to be in that interview, not least because he is a new dad. People are reading way too much into it.
 
El Khannouss, Mateus Fernandes, Joao Gomes, Elliott, McAtee, Dibling, all will be on our shortlist, all show how Levy once again doesn't take his chance in the transfer market when gifted a golden opportunity of Champions League to do so.

We are a million miles behind where a club like ours should be. The Cup win was beautiful and so needed but we are so far off it's a bit sad really.

Our moves in the last few windows have left us light years behind. No outs yet kills us as much as only 2 ins. Simply not good enough as always, it's a shame.

It's wild to think about. Finished 17th in the league, still found away to get the Champions league money. But still penny pinching. Doing nothing in the transfer market and just watching literally every team getting stronger that the club want to be competing with. Its literally a joke how this window has gone. Waited weeks to sack Ange. Waited weeks to let Frank get in. Then wasted weeks on MGW. All the while doing no further business. We have weaknesses all over the pitch that are just going to be ignored and we will just cross our fingers in hope it works out?

Penny pinching? - Spent 140m this window, on top of the 500m spent the last 2 seasons.

Ange was sacked the day he came back from holiday. It wasn't 'waiting weeks'.

Spurs don't have weakness all over the pitch. Lack of full back options, but everywhere else there is good depth.

Spurs already have far too many foreign players, and can only sign english - which makes options very limited.

Personally - I still think we steal Eze at the final moment with a huge offer to gazump Woolwich. Clearly Spurs need to wait for them to make the first move and timing will be key.
 
Oh. And my mate at telegraph still recons we may try and rival Madrid for Enzo Millot, and also wouldn't be surprising to see us get James Mcatee from City.

With Son likely off the MLS for a decent fee, that frees up some big money wages. Maybe Rodrygo isn't so ridiculous.

You're spot on, we have a good squad and should be pushing top five this season. Ange finished 5th with a worse squad than this. Just need a good DM imo until one of our young players is ready for the role. But I wouldn't say no to Eze or another quality signing.
