Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

TBF, we hired a manager who spent decades as a youth coach and I don't think it was coincidental. I don't think "backing Frank" looks like what you think it does.

Like Poch, he wasn't brought to Spurs to buy a squad for. He was brought to Spurs to get players like VDV, Spence, Johnson, Odobert, Bergvall, Sarr, etc. to kick on and become the next generation of top Spurs talent

Yeah I get that, but Frank also needs some help. Expecting young players like the ones you listed to kick on and compete in the PL with where the club wants and needs to be, CL level essentially, is going to be beyond the likes of Spence, Odobert, Bergvall and Sarr for the next couple of years at least.

There needs to be a sprinkling of star dust on the team, and that means spending some big money and getting in to proven quality.

I don't think Frank was hired due to his youth coaching background. Obviously it's only going to be a bonus that he has that background, but I am pretty sure he was hired because of the excellent job he did at Brentford. Many coaches have youth coaching backgrounds, doesn't make them automatic picks to be Spurs manager.

Love how underwhelmed some people seem to be by us potentially buying the exact kind of player we need in the area we need it most

Prem proven, experienced, no nonsense player.

He isn't the sexy signing people wanted but the sexy signings always come with a risk and I really see no downside with this.

That’s because a lot of us don’t think he’s the exact player we need.

What we need is someone who can pass the ball from deep and that’s not Palinha

I don’t hate the idea of having a hard cunt who kicks people and gets you the ball back but against 70% of teams who will sit back, we need at least one ball player with him to make up for his lack of passing.

Take today for example, he would have taken Bentancurs spot in the 11 but tbh, Bentancur is the better all round footballer, he’s just never fit for long stretches

If we play Palhinha I think the midfield then needs to be balanced with the like of Maddison and Bergvall. Another Maddison type of player might do the trick for depth. Maybe that Leicester guy.

Based on Franks interview quotes, Pape Sarr will be hard to shift from the 11 in his system. Pape is a transition beast in a way none of our other MF are and Frank loves a transition,

Bergvall is interesting to me in this because he’s not really a 10 imo. Hes more suited to the role Pape will play.

Agree we need another player for the #10 but if we’ve saved money on a fee for Palinha, go more ambitious and try to get a player who pushes Maddison to start.

MGW isn’t the only 10 in the world

Sorry ... !? You think if we signed Palhinha, Muani, and Simons (in addition to Tel, Danso, Takai and Vuskovic), we'd finish 10-8th?

You do realise the squad we finished the season with (minus Tel, Danso, Bergvall, Gray, Odobert, Spence) came 5th the year before right? And that we'be got a manager who has immediately made us look organised and very difficult to score against. I guess your glass is always half full.
We're not getting Simons. Enough of that. You conveniently clipped that part out.

But in short, no. The other teams around us have improved massively. We have a front 3 that any top 10 side betters.

Not substantially, and thats based on last season alone when, again, Solanke was playing in a squad managed by an amateur with basically zero tactical plan.

As I said, we'll see this season.
Not barely at all. They are absolutely flat out better players.

Anyway, my point is that he's not getting into another top 10 singing, and you agreeing, should really indicate that he's absolutely not up the standard of player we should be targeting. A £30m rotation player, absolutely. £65m on a guy that's allergic to scoring, absolutely not.

Sarr's best games seem to come against tougher opposition. Historically he's struggled vs teams that sit back and park the bus. He'll need to improve vs those teams if he wants to be consistent starter

£30M is a punt on a young player or that someone who has failed elsewhere will come good for you. Inflation is real.

(Assuming Biss will be off.)

DM - Palinha, ???....... Grey?
Box 2 Box - Berg, Bentancur........ Grey?
AM - Maddison, Kulu...... Berg? ..................Donley?
+ Sarr on special ops. : P

One could argue we're still shortest at DM even with JP coming in..... Esp. if that's the blue print.

I'd still be keen to see Bentancur upgraded by the like of Ederson or Paquetta too.

....................Again, this is why MGW would have been so sweet; could have played instead of OR alongside Jim.

Can Paquetta be similarly versatile?

I have enough faith in Frank that if he thinks he can get good use of Palhina than I think it’ll work out. He’s got a certain skill set and is EPL experienced. We will play a lot of games. Frank is a guy who can mix and match players depending on the game and what role is needed. That’s why you have a squad. Opposed to Conte and Ange who will try to make players do what they really aren’t suited for.

He was hired because he did very well at Brentford with very cheap players - much cheaper than what he already has at his disposal at Spurs.

Not sure how you see that as an indication he needs/expects expensive signings or that we have any intention of providing them.

I ain’t posting in his thread till it’s done. Moronic to start one after MGW

We would be howling with rage were it any different so it must be said: good on Levy not fucking about covering the salary.

Joins the motley crew of Kane, Son, Lloris and Ndombele as the only men alive to ever draw a 200k paycheck out of Levy, right? How much of Bale's salary did we cover?

Oh fuck! I hope your wrong, but I wouldn't rule it out.
If Levy is really thinking that gambling with relegation is worth winning a trophy is a good bet then we are truly fucked!

Said this before, do the football knowledgeable people at THFC not see what we see or are they to frightened to rock the boat by saying certain player are not up to it? Or are they simply not asked for their input?

If so I hope Frank and his team have a pair and realise that a number of our current senior squad ain't up to the level required for what we want to supposedly achieve and make that clear to Enic.

Certain players = Solanke, Johnson, Maddison, Sonny (now) Benny, Bissouma. These for me are all mid-table footballers, excluding Sonny who needs to be put out to pasture, like the great throughbred he once was.
MADDs is our most creative player. I’d rather ditch kulu before him. The others sure plus add Davies.
