Who is benched for this guy, who offers next to nothing going forward and (if he has lost even half a yard of pace the wrong side of 30) is a walking red card?
That’s what i worry about on our big pitch. He’s quite upright and wooden in his movement and always looks like he’s stretching for tackles. In a compact Fulham side on a small pitch he sort of got away with it. Can see him getting a lot of early yellow cards and then walking on a tightrope until he gets subbed. Not a big fan but as a loan it’s not to bad I guess if it means we have the funds for other areas

I see this in a positive light. As it's a loan it's a very good deal as a stop gap to fill a problem position. Money (in theory lol) can now be put towards the other needed positions (LB, AM, ST) and then next summer we look to get a better more long term CDM. Who knows, Palhinha may even do so well that we exercise the option to buy.

I must have woken up on the right side of bed this morning.

I like it. Proven in the Prem, mature and experienced midfielder who was a consistent performer while at Fulham, a bit of a hatchet man that can actually play a bit. For sure not the plodder some may well think.

Not sure what happened at Bayern as I don't follow them, but he's Spurs now so who cares
This. We have loads of exciting talent, but also need some experience in. As you mentioned also proven on the big scenes.

Happy with this one

Seeing our corners in preseason you would expect him to get a few goals from them , always liked him at Fulham and it's a loan.
Good deal to me.

Why are people unhappy with this signing....baffling.
I think it’s fine to think he’s the wrong type of profile holding midfielder. Teams will start sitting back against us and we will still struggle to progress the ball as we have done the last few years.

He does bring lots of qualities though. We’ll be more physical, harder to score against, and have real experience there.

West Ham or Brentford level signing.

May as well be honest with ourselves and call it what it is.🤷‍♂️... Hugely uninspiring.

Nobody would have been surprised or batted an eyelid if he'd signed for either of them.

Exploiting an opportunity lingering in the left overs from the Kane / Bayern deal rather than aggressively signing the kind of quality we could and should be chasing.

Let's just hope he exceeds expectations.
This is the correct take. The sort of signing one of the promoted clubs would make to try and avoid relegation.

Oasis want to sign Gil's haircut on loan no buy obligation

You guys…

This is the 6 we have been screaming out for.

I doubt he plays against a low block team where Frank will prefer 2 x 8’s. But where Frank wants to play 3 at the back against Liverpool for example this guy is perfect to protect the space in front.

Frank doesn’t have one system. He adapts to the opposition and this signing offers a lot of flexibility.

I’m fine with this as a loan, we’re getting a good player with question marks over suitability without committing for more than a year. Paulinha will want to be in the World Cup side for Portugal so I’m confident we will get a fully committed player.

Tactically I can see how he works for us in the PSG game but not in the Burnley game - and it will be like that all season
