Ex-Spurs Player Heung-Min Son (손흥민)

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Heartbroken but at the same time, got the feeling the time is right. One of my favourite ever Spurs players and will go down as a Tottenham legend

He’s a legend because he stayed!!!!then he left.

Sonny wants to go….Sonny needs to go and sadly Sonny has to go. We need to remember Son as he was not as he is. Brilliant player, wonderful person, probably the most loved player not just by Spurs fans but by rival fans and not just in the last 10 years nor in the Premiership era but ever. We lover Greaves, we loved Klinsmann but Son is on a different plane.
No player at our club can replace him on that left wing…we have to buy and we are to buy big .

I know it's right for him and for us but it hurts. It's just not going to be the same without him.

Absolutely fitting he goes out a trophy winning captain and I can't help but feel so lucky to have been a season ticket holder during the Son era, he'll be remembered at this club long after we're all gone.

Thank you Son.

It's funny you know. I can remember fans bewailing the signing of Son because he wasn't of the same quality as Bale on the left.

A decade later, we have the same fans bewailing the signings of Tel and Odobert because they're not the same quality as Son.

I'm looking forward to both of them filling that gap and proving the doubters wrong.

Maybe it's just me, but there's something infinitely more pleasurable in seeing a player develop into a top drawer player with us, than just buying in a ready made replacement. I believe that both have the same raw attributes that Son had when he first came to us.

You get older and realise football is just a business off the pitch at the end of the day but this one gets me.

Thanks for everything Sonny, I think the biggest compliment I could pay him is that I was comfortable with him in the biggest matches, thought he was most likely to make something happen out of nothing and will forever be grateful for the CL run, those games against City will live on forever as does that goal against Chelsea that kept us in the title race and made us believe for a brief wonderful moment.

Well, there go my plans for a productive Saturday.
I can only agree/like 99.99% of the posts on here since the announcement. Although it wasn't unexpected, it still hits hard.
If you look at the footage of the tour, Sonny is definitely not his usual, happy self.
Have to admit that the tears have been welling up all morning, especially when watching the VTs of his Spurs journey.
He joined us as a boy and will leave as a man, a man of principle and integrity. No-one should ever belittle his decision to stay with us when things got tough.
Watching the montage of goals brought a lump to the throat, but hard to accept that we haven't seen that version of Sonny for a while now.
So I think that it is the perfect time for him to bid farewell, with the memory of Bilbao still fresh in our minds; so happy that he's leaving on a high.
With regards to a statue, no sure that would be right, as we don't have one for the Double Team, Billy Nick, Stevie P, Hod, etc etc. But a mural would be more appropriate IMO.
I'm hoping that he will be at the Burnley game, so we can give him a proper send off, the least he deserves.
Godspeed Sonny, you are and were always a legend to us.

No doubt this is the right time, it would have been tough watching the wheels come off over the coming season. Still sad though

I'll wait until the club have compiled a 'Thank You' video and then shed a tear over the player he used to be

It's not just the football it's also a character taken out of the dressing room. You've got these young guys from all over the world who maybe aren't too comfortable in English. Then it's just nice having that smiling Korean bloke who speaks with everyone

Hopefully the club has lined a little farewell ceremony up when the team returns from Asia and a statue wouldn't be out of line

Thank you for your best years, Sonny, and best of luck with your new chapter - Legend
